On November 1, a family who goes by @theratbags on social media shared the heartwarming story of a possum who made herself at home on their porch. After they welcomed their guest with a brand-new shelter and lots of snacks, she said ‘thank you’ for the TLC with the sweetest gifts of her own.

I have no idea how this family spent so much time observing the possum without even attempting to pet her. With that fuzzy fur and those huge eyes, she’s just so cute! Just when I thought the bushtail possum couldn’t get any sweeter, though, she began inviting a male friend over for sleepovers, and then introduced her little ones not long after.

“If a possum napped in my plant I would simply die,” commenter @lou.s.85 wrote. I’m glad everyone is on the same page! Creating a space that’s welcoming to wild animals is a dream come true, but this family went above and beyond to keep their critter visitors as comfortable as possible.

Apparently, though, not everyone is on the same page. One commenter, @ozboc, wants nothing to do with the possums. They wrote, “Yeh, nah… Most people have no idea how annoying they are, jumping on your tin roof at 11 pm and just racing up and down until about 4 am every night.”

Ok, he makes a great point! It can be hard when your home becomes a playground for nocturnal animals, but clearly, there’s a reason why they stick around that person’s yard. Hopefully, they can get to the bottom of the mystery so they can keep the possums away!

American Possums v. Australian Possums

One Australian joked in the comments, “Queue the Americans claiming ‘that’s not a possum’ because they can’t handle that ours are cute & theirs aren’t.” Well, if you must know, lots of people love North American possums, too!

But, aside from their habitat, what’s the difference between these possum species? Conservationist Hal Brindley explains that it would be much clearer if people used the American possum’s correct name: opossum. They have pointed features, small, beady eyes, and lots of teeth—which is why many consider them ‘ugly’ or scary-looking.

In reality, however, opossums are docile marsupials who will avoid conflict at all costs. Remember, the term ‘playing possum’ was picked up for a reason, so you’re much more likely to see one playing dead than ready to attack!

Both possums and opossums are fascinating creatures who deserve as much kindness as one can give. I wish more people appreciated possums and their many benefits!

The comments section was practically giving this unexpected musical performance a standing ovation. One viewer couldn’t get over the convincing technique, writing, “the hand placement. he so into it😂,” while another introduced what might be the greatest new instrument in classical music history: “It’s very rare to see a Meowolin.” Honestly, forget the Stradivarius. With an Orange Cat, a clothes hanger, and a little imagination, this pet parent might have invented the world’s first purr-powered orchestra.

Do Cats Actually Enjoy Music, or Are Their Ears Tuned to a Completely Different Kind of Symphony?

Cats experience sound quite differently from humans. Their hearing is exceptionally sensitive, particularly at higher frequencies, helping them detect the tiny movements and vocalizations of potential prey. That means a musical performance that sounds beautiful to us might not be equally interesting or soothing to a cat.

Interestingly, researchers have investigated whether cats respond more positively to music specifically designed around feline vocal patterns and hearing preferences. A 2015 study published in Applied Animal Behaviour Science found that cats showed greater interest in species-appropriate music than in human music. Rather than traditional melodies, this specialized music incorporated sounds and tempos inspired by feline communication.

However, individual preferences still matter. Some cats may enjoy gentle background music, while others prefer a peaceful, quiet environment. Pet parents should watch for relaxed body language and avoid forcing cats to remain near unfamiliar sounds.

And that brings us back to our unlikely Orange Cat virtuoso. He might not appreciate the artistic brilliance of his pet parent’s imaginary violin concert, but his performance perfectly illustrates how differently humans and cats experience music.

In a video posted to TikTok, CBS Pittsburgh reported that the rescue duck named Stu recieved a pair of prosthetic feet after he lost them both. “Stu arrived at J and J Farms Animal Sanctuary in Saxonburg in May without any feet,” they outlet wrote in their caption. “The animal rescue said it was told that Stu was born without a leg and was able to overcome his disability until winter hit and he lost his other foot to frostbite.”

In the video, the outlet shared a photo of Stu with his new feet and the rescuers at the farm taking care of him before he got his new feet. The new feet were built by a team that specializes in prostetics for animals, and Stu is “doing great.”

People in the comments we’re happy for Stu and his new lease on life, with users commenting, “Yay, Stu,” in response.

“That’s wonderful 😁,” one person wrote, while another said, “He’s so adorable.” Others loved that Stu was able to get the new feet from the rescuers, with one person adding, “This is such a great story.”

How Do Prosthetics Help Animals Walk Again?

According to Bionic Pets, “Veterinary prosthetics for animals can provide carefully designed support after limb loss, injury, deformity, or joint instability – giving many animals a more comfortable and confident way to move.”

“Animal prosthetics replace all or part of a missing limb. Orthotics, often called braces, support a limb or body area that remains in place but needs help with stability, alignment, or motion,” they continued. “A prosthetic does not recreate a natural limb perfectly. It can, however, help an animal distribute weight more evenly, improve balance, protect the remaining limbs from excessive strain, and move with greater independence.”

As a result, these options can give an animal their ability to walk again and continue their active lifestyle.

“The right device is never a one-size-fits-all answer,” the organization noted. “A prosthetic or brace must account for the animal’s anatomy, skin condition, weight, gait, activity level, and the underlying reason mobility has changed.”

While there are plenty of options, its best to consult with your vet to understand which option will work best for them in the long run.

Rather than sniffing her new companion, Bambi gives Pearl a series of affectionate licks. Pearl doesn’t appear to mind the extra affection, either. She stands patiently while Bambi continues her greeting.

Both animals have been rescued, so it’s lovely to see them spending time together in such a peaceful setting. And if Bambi’s enthusiastic kisses are any indication, Pearl may already have a very devoted friend.

Can Cows Really Form Deep Friendships?

Cows are much more socially complex than many people realize, and their relationships can influence how comfortable they feel around other animals. A study published in Applied Animal Behaviour Science found that cows with a long history together tended to have stronger social relationships. They spent more time near familiar companions and interacted with them more frequently.

Cows also show affection through grooming. According to research published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science, cows lick each other’s head and neck—this behavior allows them to maintain friendly relationships within the herd. These friendships can start surprisingly early, too. Researchers studying young calves found that they developed preferences for certain companions and continued seeking them out as they grew older. Scientists are still studying just how deep these relationships go, but there’s plenty of evidence that cows recognize familiar companions and prefer spending time with certain herd members.

Recently captured footage shows a beautiful Golden Retriever named Joey casually walking up to a couple enjoying an outdoor picnic. But Joey wasn’t there just to say hi. He was there to join them.

The hilarious footage was shared to Joey’s TikTok account, @joey_how_u_doinn, with a caption that sums up the scene perfectly: “Hi friends, I’ll join you, do you mind?”

The unsuspecting couple seems to take the pop-up visitor in stride, looking over at Joey’s mom and laughing as they indulge in some much-appreciated pets for Joey. After a few moments, Mom calls out to her pup, who made himself perfectly comfortable and shows no signs of moving on. Perhaps he’ll leave after he’s had lunch with his new friends.

The comment section took off, and viewers can’t get enough of this hilarious dog version of date-crashing: “He really said, ‘I can take your girl if I want to,'” one viewer teased. “Looking at you like ‘I got options…..!’ 😁” echoed another.

In a video posted to TikTok by the Sheldrick Trust, a mother elephant named Chaimu was spotted helping her baby, named Comet, try to get out of the muddy watering hole. In the video, the baby elephant attempted to climb out of the watering hole but kept slipping on the mud. Comet’s mom tried to guide her out but struggled as well. After some time, the mom guided her baby out of the hole, and the baby was safe and sound by her side.

In the caption, the Trust wrote, “Elephants are wonderful problem-solvers, and there’s nothing quite like watching a good mum in action!”

“After a spot of mud bathing, little Comet finds herself in a bit of a predicament. The banks of the waterhole are slippery, and each time she tries to climb out, she slides back in,”
they continued. “Thankfully, Mum Chaimu is on hand. Calm and patient, she turns to help, first reaching with her trunk before using her own leg to give Comet the support she needs to scramble to safety.”

People in the comments also held their breath during the harrowing rescue, with one person writing, “That was stressful.”

All About Chaimu and Comet

Chaimu was first rescued back in 2009 when she was only 11 months old. While the reason she was orphaned remains a mystery, she came to the nursery sick and “sightless in one eye.”

“But against the odds, Chaimu flourished. Working with an eye specialist, we got topsides of her eye issues and she regained full sight,” the Trust confirmed. “With time, her condition improved and her body filled out. Trust took longer to build, but as the weeks wore on, Chaimu came to understand that she was safe and loved.”

Eventually, Chaimu “graduated” from the “Ithumba Reintegration Unit, where she went on to reclaim her place in the wild.”

Since then, Chaimu returned to visit the people who helped save her, and even gave birth to her first baby, Chapa, “right outside the stockades” back in September 2024.

“But then, Chapa’s story took a tragic turn,” they continued. “Just before Christmas, after an absence of more than a month, Chaimu arrived at the stockades — without her infant son. His loss remains a complete mystery. Chaimu did not seem distressed or dispirited; in fact, she was behaving perfectly normally. Whatever happened, she had clearly already processed the loss.”

But eventually, her second baby, Comet, was born in October 2026 and has been thriving so far. “Comet is the 95th known ‘grandcalf’ born to an orphan rescued, raised, and rewilded through our Orphans’ Project,” they revealed. “She is the latest in a sparkling constellation of wild elephants who are here today because an orphan’s life was saved.”

Cats love having places to climb, scratch, hide, and watch the world from above. But finding a cat tree that keeps them entertained and still looks polished isn’t always easy, and it gets even trickier with larger kitties or multiple cats.

Home Depot has a new BYBLIGHT 3-Tier Cat Tree that checks both boxes. With a plush beige covering, palm tree-inspired scratching posts, and leafy green accents, it brings a little island whimsy to your space and makes a fun alternative to more traditional carpet-covered cat towers.

Home Depot’s Wood Cat Tree Has Two Cozy Condos and Room for Larger Cats

The BYBLIGHT Cat Tree is $149.99 at Home Depot and is currently marked as a Special Buy. Standing 61 inches tall, it has three levels, two enclosed condos, and a scratching post that doubles as a ladder, which makes it easier for kittens and senior cats to reach the upper levels.

The neutral beige blends with most décor, while the tall posts, designed to look like palm trunks topped with greenery, add a playful tropical touch without sacrificing the features cats need.

There’s plenty of room for bigger kitties, too. According to the manufacturer, each level supports up to 25 pounds, and the two condos are designed to fit large or chubby cats. About 13 inches between levels gives cats room to sit up and move around instead of squeezing in.

At about 31.5 inches wide and 20 inches deep, the tower packs a lot of climbing, scratching, and napping space into a relatively small footprint. It’s designed to fit into a corner, and placing it near a window gives cats a perch for bird-watching and afternoon sunbathing.

The tree is made from particleboard with rounded edges for safety, and at just over 40 pounds, it’s heavy enough to feel steady when cats leap on and off. Assembly is required, but the parts are labeled, and it includes all hardware and instructions. BYBLIGHT also backs it with a one-year quality guarantee.

Delivery is free, and Home Depot accepts returns within 30 days, which is helpful if you’re unsure whether your cats will take to it.

If you’ve been hunting for a cat tree for large cats that won’t clash with your living room, this one is worth a look. It gives cats room to climb, hide, and nap, and it looks more like tropical décor than a traditional cat tower.

The Reel begins with six excited puppies pouring through the front door. As if the tiny tail wags aren’t enough cuteness, the fact that each of these little fluffballs is wearing a different set of doggy PJs brings the whole thing to the next level. From avocados to ducklings to pigs and cows, these pups are wearing the most adorable dog jammies we’ve ever seen.

Eventually settling in to watch the Cleveland Cavaliers game, the on-screen text says “Courtside seats, puppy edition.”

“Cuteness overload,” “precious,” and “so adorable” were among the many comments, accompanied by seas of hearts and heart-eyed emojis. Several users would love to be included in this type of party: “😍😍😍 I would never leave the house,” wrote one smitten viewer. “That’s a party I’d like to be invited to!! Do Dogs Like Wearing Clothes?

The market for canine fashion is a growing industry. However, there isn’t really a clear answer as to whether or not dogs enjoy wearing clothes. It really depends on the dog.

Some dogs benefit from an added layer of warmth or protection from elements like rain, wind, or snow. Other pups may wear an outfit for a special occasion, holiday, or simply because their human family thinks it’s cute. And while there is no harm in your dog wearing clothes, it is important to pay attention to how your dog acts when you’ve put him or her in garments.

According to Dogster.com, signs that your pup may not like wearing clothes include pawing at the garment, tucking their tail, or freezing and refusing to move. Other less obvious signs are excessive licking, yawning, or panting. On the contrary, happy tails wags, relaxed body language and normal movement are good signs that your dog is perfectly comfortable in his or her clothes.

As for the litter of mini Berns? We’d say these pups give their pajamas a 10 out of 10. And honestly, we do too.

In this footage, a musician was serenading a rhino with a beautiful acoustic set when the rhino came over to him and got very up close and personal.

But as this video reveals, this rhino wasn’t trying to get close to this guy because he liked the music.

This hulking baby actually had an ulterior motive, and it’s one that dog lovers are likely familiar with.

After the musician starts singing and strumming along on his guitar, the rhino moseys on over towards him.

It appears that the musician’s serene voice and guitar playing are drawing the rhino in close, but as the rhino approaches, he does something rather unexpected, suddenly pulling an about-face and showing the man his backside.

That’s when the caretaker who has accompanied the musician informs him that the rhino is requesting a back scratch. (See what we mean by rhinos act a lot like dogs?)

Of course, the musician obliges this rhino, giving him a very nice back scratch through the fence enclosure.

And when the scratches are over, and the rhino realizes that no more back scratches are coming, he takes his leave, moseying away as the musician continues to play.

How Do Rhinos Bond With Their Caretakers?

It’s not exactly common to see a rhino bonding or interacting with humans this way. However, there are such things as “keeper-only animals,” who develop deep bonds and exclusive preferences for certain human caretakers to clean, feed, and handle them.

There are even stories of intelligent, sensitive animals, such as parrots or gorillas, becoming agitated when they see a new face or someone other than their preferred human tries to feed them.

Interactions like these indicate that there is probably a lot more going on with these animals in terms of how they connect with and perceive the world around them than meets the eye.

As for the rhino in this video, it’s clear that he really loves his back scratches, and he knows exactly what he has to do to get them, just like any good tank puppy.

So, what attracts wildlife to your yard in the first place? And how can you keep wild animals from getting a little too comfortable around your home? The answers may be simpler than you think—and some of the biggest wildlife attractants are easy to overlook.

If you’re hoping to wildlife-proof your yard before occasional visits turn into a bigger headache, it helps to know what pest control experts look for. We asked two pest professionals to identify five common things that could be drawing wild animals to your property, plus what homeowners can do to make their yards less inviting.

5 Things That Attract Wildlife to Your Yard, According to Pest Experts

Pet Food and Bird Feeders

Your dog’s dinner could end up being a wild animal’s midnight snack! Even if you’re putting food out for your pets or backyard birds, you might accidentally be inviting other wildlife over for a meal, too.

“Wildlife does not know the food was intended for your dog, cat, or birds,” warns seasoned pest control professional Griffin Thomas. “If it is accessible, something else will eventually find it.”

Pet food is one source of food that can attract wildlife to your yard, especially when bowls are left outside overnight. Ideally, feed dogs and cats indoors. If that’s not possible, bring their bowls inside at night and sweep up stray kibble. Bird feeders can attract unwanted visitors, too, so clean up spilled seeds regularly to keep your yard from becoming an easy source of food for passing wildlife.

Food Scraps, Fallen Fruit, and Grill Grease

Plenty of omnivorous animals (bears, raccoons, rats, etc.) won’t turn their noses up at human food, either. Most people know better than to leave food outside overnight, but keeping food waste out of your yard goes beyond just picking up scraps. What are some food sources that attract wildlife? According to Thomas, grease left behind on outdoor grills or fallen fruit in your garden can also turn your yard into a dependable feeding spot for wild animals!

Standing Water and Other Water Sources

That puddle in your yard might be doing more than soaking your shoes. Water sources around your property can give wildlife a reason to stop by, especially when animals can easily access them for drinking or bathing.

Pet water bowls, birdbaths, leaky spigots, clogged gutters, and low spots where rainwater collects can all provide accessible water. Aptive Pest Control entomologist, Isaac Rockwell, , warns that standing water is another potential concern for homeowners.

To make your yard less inviting to unwanted animal visitors, empty standing water when possible, fix leaky outdoor faucets, clear clogged gutters, and address drainage problems that leave persistent puddles. These steps can also help reduce mosquito breeding sites, since mosquitoes lay their eggs in or near water.

Brush Piles, Woodpiles, and Hiding Spots

That pile of branches you’ve been meaning to clean up could be the perfect hideaway for an unexpected visitor, like a skunk! Just like people, wild animals need a safe place to rest, hide from predators, and raise their young. And sometimes, your yard offers just the shelter they’re looking for.

Pest control experts Thomas and Rockwell point to brush piles, overgrown shrubs, stacked firewood, and the crawlspaces beneath decks and porches as potential hiding spots for wildlife. These sheltered areas can give animals a place to nest or escape the elements, especially when they’re close to reliable food and water sources.

To make your yard less appealing to unwanted wildlife, clear away unnecessary brush, trim overgrown vegetation, and store firewood neatly off the ground where practical. You can also cover crawlspace openings beneath decks and porches with sturdy, wildlife-resistant mesh. Before sealing any opening, however, make sure no animals or dependent young are inside.

Unsecured Trash Cans and Garbage

Lastly, both of our experts named open or unsealed garbage bins as major attractants for wild animals. Rotting food left hanging out in garbage bins for days at a time can attract animals just as easily as scraps left out in your yard. Bears and raccoons are particularly notorious for knocking over trash cans (and even occasionally breaking into unlocked dumpsters) to take what they want. The solution? If pests, especially bears, are a big problem in your area, seal or lock your bins, and if possible, store them (or any trash bags containing food) in your garage or shed until trash pickup day.

The common thread? Wildlife is more likely to keep returning when a yard offers easy access to food, water, or shelter.

How Can You Tell If Wildlife Is Living in Your Yard?

Wildlife passing through your yard occasionally is usually nothing to worry about, but repeated visits or signs of damage may indicate that an animal has found a reliable source of food or shelter. While, signs of a wildlife problem can vary, keep an eye out for overturned trash cans, scattered garbage, digging, droppings, damaged garden beds, or scratching and rustling sounds beneath decks, porches, or in the attic.

You might also notice burrows, nests, or animals returning to the same spot repeatedly. While one sign alone doesn’t necessarily mean you have a wildlife problem, several signs together may suggest an animal is settling in. If you suspect wildlife is nesting beneath your porch or inside your home, avoid blocking potential entry points until you know no animals or dependent young are inside. Contact a qualified wildlife professional if you need help identifying the animal or addressing the problem safely.

How to Keep Wildlife Out of Your Yard Safely

The question you’re most likely wondering is, “How can you keep wildlife out of your yard?” Most wild animals don’t prefer to live near human homes if there’s nothing to be gained from it. If you keep your yard free of any wildlife attractants (food, water, or shelter), animals will usually move on pretty quickly, although it won’t prevent every animal from passing through. So don’t panic if you still see the occasional animal from time to time.

“The first thing is to decide whether you actually have a wildlife problem or whether an animal is simply passing through,” says Griffin Thomas. “Seeing an opossum walk across the yard one night is different from having a raccoon repeatedly opening the trash, an animal living underneath the deck, or squirrels chewing their way into the attic.”

If it’s not just the occasional passer-by, though, and you do have a genuine wildlife problem, Thomas recommends starting by removing whatever is “rewarding” the animal for coming back: securing trash, cleaning up fallen foodstuffs, reducing shelter and standing water, cleaning your grill, bringing pet food and water inside, etc. In the meantime, stay clear and keep any pets or children away from the animal, especially if it seems sick, injured, disoriented, and either unusually aggressive or entirely fearless of people—both are red flags for rabies.

“If the animal has created a den or entered the structure, do not immediately close the opening,” Thomas warns. “You need to make sure there are no animals or dependent young inside first. Simply sealing an active opening can trap the animal inside or separate a mother from her young. At that point, I would contact a qualified wildlife professional, animal control, or a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, depending on the situation.”

“One thing I always try to explain is that the goal should not be to remove every wild animal from the neighborhood,” he adds. “Wildlife is going to be around. The goal is to stop your property from providing the food, water, shelter, or structural access that encourages animals to stay or move inside.”

Just throw down a cute doormat, and suddenly your house looks festive.

Then there’s the adorable white dog tangled in Christmas lights, which feels suspiciously familiar to anyone who’s ever decorated with a curious puppy nearby.

The rest of the design is equally cute, with reindeer, gingerbread men, snow globes, wrapped presents, and a festive red pickup truck hauling a Christmas tree.

It’s made from natural coir, which helps scrape dirt off shoes before everyone tracks it into your house. There’s also a non-slip backing to help keep it in place.

• The dog-obsessed decorator: Already has three Christmas dog pillows and absolutely needs a matching doormat.
• The Santa Paws believer: Knows the family dog deserves a stocking bigger than everyone else’s.
• The holiday bargain hunter: Loves making the house look festive without spending a fortune.

For $19.99, this T.J. Maxx Christmas dog doormat is a pretty cute way to welcome holiday guests.

And let’s face it, those little Christmas pups are probably better behaved than the real dog waiting on the other side of the door.

This was the exact situation for one cat parent who adopted an orange rescue cat from the shelter, and Bruce’s transformation has the internet in tears. Bruce wasn’t just another cat—he was described as the “saddest cat” at the shelter. The moniker wasn’t given lightly, either. One look at Bruce’s face at the shelter made it obvious he wasn’t feeling his best. Thankfully, Bruce has a new home now, and this cat is no longer the saddest one around.

One Orange Cat Gets A Second Chance

Captured looking somber and hopeless at the shelter, Bruce wasn’t expecting much when his future cat mom came to visit. This time, though, Bruce was heading out to his new home. Riding home in a pink crate, Bruce was just moments away from his brand-new home.

At first glance, this orange cat took his time wandering and exploring his new digs. Bruce slowly walked throughout the space and examined the new setup. Just half an hour after arriving at his new home, Bruce’s adaptation period clearly came to a close as he cuddled up to his new mom.

Finally settled in a relaxing space, Bruce took the chance to get some deep sleep, always right next to his new human. Clearly, Bruce didn’t need much time to get acquainted with his new life. In more recent videos, it’s clear this orange cat is a happy feline, and we couldn’t be more delighted.

Viewers Are So Happy for Bruce’s New Life

In the comments, users were thrilled to see a sweet cat get a chance at a new life. The clip has already garnered over five million views, 9,900 comments, and over 224,000 likes.

Many users shared the sentiment of one user who commented, “I am crying. He looks so comfortable, only half an hour in. When they lie like that with their belly exposed, it means they trust you completely. I’m so happy you found each other.”

Others also shared their gratitude to Bruce’s mom for helping save another cat from shelter life. “Adopting older cats is such an amazing act of kindness!” one user said. Another added, “Thank you so, so much for giving that sweet baby a home.”

Like those in the comment section, we are so glad to see Bruce content in his new home, and we can’t wait to see his personality shine more with every day.

For one 3-month-old Golden puppy named Gouda, nothing stops him from getting the toy he wants. The problem is, the toy just so happens to be attached to his pet sibling, a gray tabby cat named Tater.

And Tater is not having it.

TikTok user @goudaisgolden shared the hilarious footage of Gouda and Tater’s encounter last week, and this little puppy has some serious staying power. The caption describes Gouda’s commitment perfectly: “I’ll get Tater’s tail one day.”

What makes this even better is that you’d assume Tater the cat would be super annoyed, but he actually seems to be encouraging Gouda by playing along. Each time the pup gets close to his tail, the wise kitty pulls it just out of reach.

It’s honestly a perfect example of the classic cat and mouse game. “Tom and Jerry in a cat and dog version😭😍😂,” one user referred to the pair.

Do Cats and Dogs Get Along?

The old adage, “fighting like cats and dogs,” is frequently used but infrequently true. More often than not, cats and dogs can live harmoniously in a home. According to the American Kennel Club, a few factors can help make sharing a home more successful:

• Early Introductions Help: Most dogs can learn to live peacefully with cats, especially if they are introduced as puppies.
• Temperament Considerations: Non-sporting breeds may be better suited for a life with cats, as well as dogs who are friendly and easygoing. A high-energy breed may be challenging for your feline friend to accept.
• Watch for Prey Instincts: Some dogs have an inner drive to hunt or chase, and this may not bode well for your cat. Providing safe, separate areas for your pets can prevent unwanted interactions.
• Consult an Expert: Many animal trainers, veterinarians, and breeders can offer guidance on introducing cats and dogs and helping them adjust to living together.

A great pair of shoes can be a conversation starter, but they don’t have to be sky-high heels to turn heads. Sometimes, a smart pair of flats that are as comfortable as they are cute, with an adorable little detail for dog lovers, is all it takes to add personality and charm to an outfit.

And Amazon has a pair of loafers that dog moms might find impossible to resist. The VIVAIA Audrey Embroidered Loafers feature adorable French Bulldogs with little red bow ties on a warm ginger-yellow knit. They’re playful, polished, and designed to add a little extra comfort to everything from the office to a weekend outing.

Amazon’s VIVAIA French Bulldog Loafers Add Personality to Everyday Style

The embroidered loafers are available on Amazon for $139 in the Ginger Yellow–French Bulldogs design, and the Audrey style has earned a 4.3-star rating from 132 shoppers. Each shoe features an embroidered Frenchie face with expressive eyes, perky ears, and an adorable red bow tie. One pup even has his little tongue sticking out, giving the pair two slightly different personalities.

The warm ginger-yellow color is especially pretty for fall, but you don’t need to put these away when spring arrives. Although it’s a brighter shade, it can work almost like a neutral and pairs beautifully with blue jeans, black slacks, or a simple dress. The classic rounded-toe silhouette also balances the playful embroidery, making them easy to dress up or down.

And comfort is an important part of the design. The loafers feature a knit upper, a roomy toe box, moderate foam cushioning, and an ultra-bendy rubber sole. Their slip-on construction makes them convenient for busy mornings, traveling, or days when you want something more polished than sneakers.

Shoppers who reviewed the Audrey loafers in other designs shared helpful feedback on comfort and fit.

One verified purchaser says they’re “way more comfortable than I was expecting,” adding that the cushioning lets them wear the shoes all day.

Another shopper calls them “absolutely adorable” but warns they fit tightly around bunions.

A third noted, “Adorable. Comfortable. They fit true to size. Good travel shoe.”

Checking VIVAIA’s size chart and considering your usual fit preferences may be especially helpful before ordering.

My cats have a pretty sweet arrangement. They sleep wherever they want, eat food I pay for, and occasionally knock something expensive off a shelf just to remind me who’s in charge. But apparently, their living situation could be even more ridiculous because Walmart is selling an enormous spotted cat tree that looks like a luxury apartment complex.

The 83-inch spotted cat tree has two condos, five plush perches, two hammocks, two hanging baskets, and three dangling toys. That’s enough real estate for an entire family of cats to have their own apartments and still meet up in the common areas to complain about dinner. And the black-and-white spotted fabric makes the whole thing look like something Cruella de Vil would have commissioned for her cats.

Merrland 83″ Multi-Level Large Cat Tree with 2 Condos, Plush Perches, Sisal Scratching Posts, Hammocks & Toys for All Cats, $99.97, Walmart

At nearly seven feet tall, this cat tree is practically a skyscraper. It measures 57.5 inches long and 19.7 inches wide, so you’ll definitely want to clear some floor space before bringing this monster home.

There are also 12 sisal-wrapped scratching posts and a scratching ramp, which should give your cats plenty of places to sharpen their claws besides your favorite couch. The reinforced frame, widened base, and included anti-tip strap help keep everything secure.

And yes, assembly is required. Consider it your contribution to the household since your cats certainly won’t be helping.

Who Needs This Amazing Cat Mansion?

Honestly, I can think of several very deserving residents.

• The cat who already acts like royalty. Finally, accommodations befitting their social standing.
• Multi-cat households. Two condos mean fewer arguments over who gets the penthouse. In theory.
• The neighborhood surveillance expert. Five elevated perches provide excellent opportunities to judge everyone from above.
• The professional napper. Four hanging beds mean there’s always somewhere to collapse after an exhausting morning of doing absolutely nothing.
• The kitten with unlimited energy. Multiple levels, scratching posts, and dangling toys should provide plenty of opportunities for climbing and playing.

Shoppers seem pretty pleased with this enormous kitty condo, too. One five-star reviewer calls it the “Best ever cat tower!” and praises its sturdy construction and fun spotted design. Another says their kitten spends hours climbing, exploring, and investigating all the hiding spots.

I have a feeling my Maine Coon Meatball would immediately claim the penthouse while my other two cats fought over the remaining apartments.

If you’ve got multiple cats, an energetic kitten, or one extremely spoiled kitty who deserves their own zip code, this giant spotted cat tree might be exactly what your living room needs.

What’s a Pygmy Hippo?

You will immediately notice that this doesn’t look like a “normal” hippo. As denoted by the name, these guys are quite a bit smaller, but they’re also shaped differently. They have evolved to spend less time in the water, so they don’t have all the same features as the hippo you imagine. You’ll notice Maple’s eyes are on the sides of her head instead of the top.

Like their cousins, Pygmy hippos have biiiig mouths with lots of teeth (Maple shows hers off briefly in the video). These serve a function beyond eating, as they allow the animal to scare off their enemies since their smaller size makes them more of a potential target for predators. This isn’t the only cool thing they do! As the San Diego Zoo explains, “Body language is important in hippo culture.” They also submissively pee and huff in surprise.

We look forward to seeing the follow-up video of Maple huffing at her zookeepers.

There’s something irresistible about woodland animals, especially when they find their way into our homes as charming little decorative accents. From curious rabbits to sweet little foxes, these playful designs can add storybook magic to a room. And when they’re as pretty as they are practical, that’s even better.

Home Depot has a beautiful StyleCraft Malta 23-inch White Washed Light Copper Rabbit Lamp that looks like something straight out of a fairytale. With its soft whitewashed finish, subtle copper details, and an adorable bunny peeking over the lampshade, it can make an ordinary bedside table or reading nook feel a little more special.

Home Depot’s Copper Rabbit Table Lamp Adds Whimsy and Charm to Any Room

The lamp is available at Home Depot for $119.99. Its sculpted rabbit stands upright on a round base, with its front paws resting on the edge of a simple white linen shade. The bunny’s little ears, nose, and paws feature warm copper accents that highlight the details in its whitewashed finish.

It uses one standard E26-base bulb (up to 60 watts), sold separately, and a simple on/off switch.

Made from sturdy polyresin, the lamp measures 23 inches tall, 9.5 inches wide, and 6.75 inches deep, making it ideal for a bedside table, entryway console, or cozy living room corner.

The neutral finish is part of what makes this design so appealing. While the rabbit adds a playful touch, the classic white shade and understated coloring allow it to complement cottage-style, traditional, or even more contemporary rooms.

For a reading nook, consider pairing it with a comfortable chair, a small stack of favorite books, and a soft throw. In a bedroom, it could add a touch of personality to a nightstand without overwhelming the rest of your décor.

There’s also something particularly sweet about a rabbit peeking over the lampshade, as though it’s checking who’s entered the room, making it ideal for a nursery.

The lamp has earned a 4.8-star rating from 19 reviewers, and many of them say it delivers on charm.

Whether your decorating style leans toward cozy cottage charm or you love an unexpected animal accent, this whimsical lamp brings a little storybook character to everyday lighting.

However, learning how dogs show trust and affection can help you better understand their behavior, recognize when they feel comfortable around you, and identify ways to strengthen the bond you share. After all, knowing how to tell if your dog feels emotionally secure can help you become an even more attentive and supportive pet parent.

To help you out so you know what to look for and how you can decode your dog’s behaviors and body language, we spoke with behavioral scientist Dr. Miles Bensky, PhD. He not only gives insight into what pet owners can do to help their dogs feel safe and secure, but he also explains the signs your dog trusts you and feels completely at ease in your presence, offering a closer look at the subtle clues that may show your dog sees you as a source of comfort, reassurance, and safety.

What Makes a Dog Feel Safe and Secure?

According to Dr. Bensky, dogs tend to feel safest and most secure when life is predictable and their needs are consistently met. This can look like feeding them at the same times every day, walking them on a schedule, offering plenty of attention and playtime, and having clear and consistent household rules.

“Simple things like a regular routine, clear expectations, positive interactions, and plenty of opportunities for exercise and enrichment all contribute to a dog feeling more confident and relaxed,” he says. “During stressful situations, dogs are more likely to feel secure when they have an owner who has built a foundation of trust and dependability.”

3 Signs You Dog Feels Safe and Comfortable Around You

If you’re wondering whether your dog feels relaxed, pay attention to how they act around you for some clues. Dr. Bensky highlights some of the top signs that your dog feels safe with you.

1. They Want to Be Close to You

Dr. Bensky says one of the best signs that your dog likes you and isn’t uncomfortable is that they regularly choose to be near you and interact with you. One special display of this desire for closeness is when your dog leans their body against yours, trusting that you will support them and snuggle back. How sweet is that?

“Relaxed body language, looking at you with soft eyes, and a willingness to rest or sleep nearby all suggest they feel at ease in your presence,” he says.

2. Eating or Drinking Near You

Most animals feel vulnerable when they are eating or drinking as their eyes and attention are focused on their bowl rather than what’s happening in the world around them. Dr. Bensky explains that if your dog lets their guard down and eats near you, it’s a good indication that they have no worries when they are around you. To them, you are not a threat. Instead, you are part of their inner circle and someone they can rely on.

3. Showing Their Belly

Dr. Bensky says another sign that your dog is happy and comfortable can be seen in how they sleep. If they roll onto their side in a relaxed way and expose their belly, they are at peace. In the wild, a dog would not usually expose their belly, particularly if there were any threats around. A domestic dog retains the instinct to keep this valuable area protected, so showing it to you often means they feel very safe.

#1 Way to Build a Stronger Bond With Your Dog

As a dog mom or dad, you want to establish an emotional attachment to you dog and have them do the same. The best way to build a stronger bond with your dog is to create a home life that feels safe and predictable. This can include speaking to them kindly, handling them gently, training them with respect, and establishing a consistent daily routine so they know when to expect meals, exercise, and time with you.

“At the heart of feeling safe is knowing what to expect and having a trusted relationship with the people who care for them,” Dr. Bensky.

Advent calendars have become a December staple for pet parents who want the holidays to feel just as exciting for their four-legged family members, and this one leans into the format: a decorated, house-shaped box with numbered windows and doors, each hiding a toy behind it. Open one a day, and by Christmas Eve your cat will have worked through the whole collection. That’s if your cat can wait until December 1st to start opening them.

Fofos 24pk Holiday Advent Calendar Cat Toys, $19.99 at Marshalls

The calendar is designed like a festive townhouse, complete with illustrated cats peeking out of windows, stockings, a wreathed front door, and holiday lights printed across the box—so it doubles as a cute mantel or shelf decoration while the countdown runs. Inside are 24 individually wrapped toys, and Fofos says the set is infused with high-quality catnip throughout, so almost every “door” opens to something that’ll get your cat rolling, batting or zooming through the living room.

The brand also markets the set as a multi-sensory experience, meaning the toys are meant to engage sight, smell, and touch rather than just one or the other—a nice way to keep a cat genuinely entertained instead of sniffing a toy once and walking away. At Marshalls, the set is $19.99, marked down from a $30 compare-at price, so you save $10 for a month’s worth of daily surprises.

Why a Daily Countdown Is Worth It for Cats

Cats thrive on novelty and routine in equal measure, and an advent calendar delivers both. Instead of dumping a pile of new toys on your cat all at once—where most of them get ignored after the first five minutes—doling one out each day keeps things fresh and gives your cat something to anticipate. It’s also an easy way to rotate out whatever toys have gone stale in their bin without having to think about what to buy next. For $19.99, it’s a low-effort way to make the whole month feel like a little holiday for your cat too, not just for the humans unwrapping gifts around them.

The Fofos 24pk Holiday Advent Calendar Cat Toys is available at Marshalls, both in stores and online, while supplies last. Since Marshalls inventory varies by location and sells out quickly around the holidays, it’s worth checking stock online before making a special trip.

Cats love having a cozy place to curl up, but finding room for another cat bed or bulky cat tree isn’t always easy. And when more than one kitty is competing for the best napping spot, a little extra lounging space can go a long way.

Amazon has a clever Double Layer Wall-Mounted Cat Hammock that gives kitties two places to relax without taking up valuable floor space. The double-decker design pairs a cushioned upper perch with a suspended hammock underneath, so cats can choose where to stretch out, snooze, or watch the world go by.

Amazon’s $40 Wall-Mounted Cat Hammock Gives Kitties Two Cozy Spots to Lounge

The JSPYFITS Wooden Cat Furniture Wall-Mounted Double-Layer Hammock is $39.99 on Amazon in beige, and it also comes in gray and brown.

The hammock has a solid pine frame and removable, machine-washable fabric, which makes cleanup easier when cat hair builds up. At about 19 inches wide, it has room for cats of different sizes. According to the manufacturer, it supports up to 50 pounds when properly installed, making it a good fit for larger cats or multi-cat households. You can also detach the lower hammock if your cat prefers the top perch.

Related: Home Depot’s Chic Flower Cat Tree Lets Cats Lounge on Plush Pink Petals

One five-star reviewer said their cat took to it right away. “I barely had it installed before my cat claimed it as the new VIP lounge,” they wrote. They also said installation was straightforward and the hammock felt very stable once mounted.

A shopper who received it through Amazon’s Vine program called it a “huge hit” with her cats. She said the two levels are spaced far enough apart that they can’t easily swipe at each other while trying to nap.

But not every cat is ready for the hanging level right away. One buyer said the hammock was easy to install and looks nice, and her cats love it, “though they are not brave enough to use the hammock.”

Just be sure to mount it properly, follow the manufacturer’s instructions, and use appropriate wall anchors or structural supports.

For apartments, multi-cat homes, or anyone running out of floor space, a wall-mounted cat hammock is an easy way to add more napping real estate. Hang it beside a sunny window so your cat can nap and bird-watch at the same time, and it just might become their favorite spot in the house.

“One stuffed goose, one very happy Bernese. A year ago, a guest brought this little gift for Benny, and he hasn’t gone a single day without it since.” In the closing frames, the Berner shows off the plaything with: “You made his whole life,” as the overlay text.

“Just a Bernese Mountain Dog and his goose…” @Danonna summed up the video perfectly. “Soulmates,” the creator responded. It was @Veritas Vincit who had the best advice: “Be sure to get a 2nd identical emergency replacement goose, ASAP!!!”

Finally, another pet parent, @A.Girl.Named.Clyde, shared their story about the same stuffed goose, “There is legitimately something magic about the goose. We got our Daisy it for Christmas and it’s in the whelping box with her 2-week-old pups because it was her first ‘baby.'”

More About Dominion Hill Country Inn

This adorably quaint hotel is the favorite spot of two beloved beasties, Benny and Reuben. These two seem to love playing on the property together and greeting guests. Of course, this all works even better with a goose toy in tow.

The place was built more than 150 years ago, and now it offers many opportunities for travelers to stay and meet the pups during their visits. Many must have enjoyed their time because the caption adds a nice coda to the tale.

“That one goose started a chain of guests bringing Benny toys. And then his toy bin started overflowing, so we got him a second toy bin… and that one’s overflowing now, too! Thank you to every guest who has ever brought him a toy, a treat, or just a belly rub. A cat mom named Charlotte recently found out after her black cat, Margaret, asked to be held for the very first time. Not long ago, Margaret was untouchable, even to her mom, but once her veterinarians made a very important discovery, she became a whole new cat.

This is so beautiful to see! Other cat parents dream of having such a close bond with their cats, but the truth is, some felines really do prefer their personal space. However, it’s impossible to know a cat’s true colors if they live every day in pain.

“The fact that she probably wanted to be held the whole time but it hurt too much” left commenters like @song.of.myself in tears. No kitty should live like that, and Charlotte deserves a round of applause for advocating for her cat at the vet.

Related: Tuxedo Cat ‘Adopts’ a Foster Kitten at First Sight and What Happened Next Melted Everyone’s Hearts

So what was causing Margaret’s pain?

Feline Hyperesthesia Syndrome

Margaret was diagnosed with feline hyperesthesia syndrome, which causes extreme sensitivity on a specific area of cat’s skin. Typically, the sensitive area is on their back, just in front of their tail, but this can vary from one cat to another.

“This condition is often noticed when owners go to pet this area, and their cat suddenly reacts,” Cornell Feline Health Center explains. “The response may be as benign as simply scratching the area themselves, or they may suddenly become aggressive and try to bite. Their pupils may become dilated, their skin may ripple, and they may drool. You may notice intense scratching and digging at that or other spots, and some affected cats may chase their own tails. Some cats may vocalize or urinate.”

🐶 SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

Some feline professionals believe this syndrome is related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, while others believe it may be a seizure disorder. More research will shed light on this problematic illness, but for now, there are many treatment options available.

Just look at what a difference it made for Margaret! This ‘spicy’ cat is now the most affectionate kitty in the room, and her mama couldn’t be happier.

Christmas shopping for cats is ridiculous because you can spend $50 on a fancy toy, and they’ll end up playing with the box it came in. Or a twist tie. Or that one piece of trash you dropped on the kitchen floor. Thankfully, Walmart has a much better idea this year, and it costs less than a fancy coffee.

The Vibrant Life Holiday Cat Toys Stocking is just $5 and comes stuffed with 18 different toys for your kitty to bat around, chase, and inevitably lose under the refrigerator. Everything comes packaged in an adorable pink Christmas stocking, so you don’t even have to wrap it. Just hang it up and let your cat wonder why you’re decorating the house with something that clearly belongs to them.

Vibrant Life Holiday Cat Toys Stocking, Pink, 18 Pieces, $5.00, Walmart

This little stocking is surprisingly packed! There’s a fluffy pink feather wand, a striped mouse, colorful pom-poms, crinkle balls, a festive character toy, and even a cute little wreath-shaped toy. There are also several open-design balls that look perfect for batting across the kitchen floor at three in the morning.

Related: T.J. Maxx’s Set of 9 Holiday Tennis Balls Is Santa’s Special Delivery for the Bestest Pup

And I love that there’s such a good mix of toys. Cats can be ridiculously picky about what they’ll play with. One might go absolutely bonkers for a feather wand while another would rather spend an hour attacking a crinkle ball. With 18 options, there’s a pretty good chance your kitty will find something worth destroying your living room over.

Your Cat’s Christmas Morning Is About to Get Weird

If you’ve ever watched a cat open a Christmas present, you know the actual gift is usually the least interesting part of the experience. The wrapping paper gets attacked, the ribbon gets investigated, and someone inevitably climbs inside a box that is approximately three sizes too small.

But this stocking might actually stand a chance of competing with the packaging.

You could even spread the toys out over several days instead of dumping all 18 on the floor at once. Rotating toys can help keep playtime interesting, especially for indoor cats who have already thoroughly inspected every corner of the house.

And if you have multiple cats, this is a pretty inexpensive way to make sure everyone gets a little something from Santa Paws. Although I wouldn’t count on them sharing nicely.

For $5, Walmart’s cat Christmas stocking is a pretty cute holiday surprise. Just be prepared to spend the next six months fishing tiny pink balls out from underneath your furniture.

Remember, animal friends come in all shapes and sizes, though not all animals are as chill as this English Bulldog is with his feathered friends. These birds have no idea how lucky they are!

What a patient dog! This handsome boy must enjoy soaking up all the attention from his friends—just look at his closing eyes! Still, I can’t help but wonder what the birds are so worked up about.

“Are they eating fleas?!” one worried commenter asked. If that were the case, I don’t think they would’ve lost interest so quickly.

Besides, chickens can be very, very nosy. Another commenter explained, “People have clearly never seen a bored chicken. They are like a toddler with ADHD when they aren’t eating or fighting.”

Clearly, Winston is used to their shenanigans by now, because this unbothered dog didn’t even bat an eyelash at the pecking birds. Maybe they gave him a massage as a thank you for putting up with their antics!

Interspecies Animal Friends

Some animals prefer to keep to themselves, but others thrive in the company of friends. And the best part? Friends don’t have to be the same species! A motherly goose proved this firsthand by literally taking two piglets under her wings, and it quite literally couldn’t be cuter.

Winston may or may not consider the chickens his friends, but there’s no question how they feel about him. He’s the most popular pup in the yard!

As if dealing with a dachshund puppy wasn’t bad enough for Digby, he’s also learning to manage several other siblings, who are also Dachshunds. Known for their high energy and herding instincts, kelpies aren’t exactly built to sit back and watch chaos unfold—and chaos is precisely what a toddler-aged dachshund puppy brings. Kelpies are bred to handle harsh conditions, but something tells us Digby wasn’t quite prepared to handle a bunch of puppy siblings pestering him all day long.

The Life of An Older Sibling

Resting comfortably on an outdoor canopy bed, Digby was minding his own business when DeeDee suddenly appeared. Like any younger sibling, she immediately wanted to hang out with her big brother.

Using all the strength in her short legs, DeeDee tried again and again to climb up onto the canopy bed to join Digby. After several attempts, she finally managed to hoist herself up, much to Digby’s visible annoyance.

Locking eyes with his human the entire time, Digby made it abundantly clear to anyone watching the video that he was one thoroughly annoyed big brother. His expression alone tells the whole story—somewhere between exasperation and resignation, the universal look of an older sibling who knows exactly what’s coming next and can’t stop it.

Viewers Can’t Get Enough of This Sibling Squabble

There’s nothing like a good sibling spat, and the comment section clearly enjoyed the hilarity.

One viewer accurately described Digby’s expression, writing, “Complaining eyes!!!” while another joked that “this is what you call tuff love.”

Another commenter simply stated, “How cute. The little puppy just wanted to lay down with big doggy.”

The entire moment is nothing short of adorable and relatable to every older sibling out there, but we’d bet Digby has a few other thoughts about the whole situation.

Maybe they walked right in! The mama raccoon and her six (seven?) babies looked shocked to run into anyone inside the building, and even though the chef caught them in action, they still managed to break into the freezer and explore the entire room!

How did this even happen? Why are the babies so comfortable with humans? I have so many questions, but I’m just glad @thealrightchef managed to grab his camera before shooing the intruders away.

“I’m reminded of how white I am because my first reaction was to just pick momma up out of the freezer with my bare hands,” commenter @triciakanz admitted. Honestly, I get it. I’d be tempted to scoop up one of those baby animals, especially the one that was practically climbing up the chef’s leg.

Related: A Raccoon Wouldn’t Stop Following This Couple on a Hike — and the Reason Why Melted Their Hearts

Apparently, this hard-working mama had attitude! Mr. Alright Chef admitted to trying the very same thing (reaching for a wild animal with his bare hands), but the raccoon got a bit ‘spicy’ when he decided to get close.

At that point, just let her have the freezer! I’d sit back and enjoy the show until a professional arrived, but whatever the chef did seemed to work just fine. I just wish he’d made another video with the entire story!

How to Interact With Raccoons

Ideally, a person would not interact with raccoons at all, but everyone is bound to cross paths with an animal sometime. If you ever do run into a raccoon, do your best to keep your distance and let it continue on its way. Don’t approach the animal, as it may feel threatened and lash out.

If a raccoon approaches you, the experts at UC Santa Barbara recommend backing away while making noise and appearing as large as possible. Be sure to pick up small pets when a raccoon is nearby, and never feed wild animals.

Fortunately, no humans or animals were injured when the masked bandits raided the freezer, and the fact that it’s all on footage is just the cherry on top.

There’s something about dachshunds that makes absolutely everything funnier. Maybe it’s their tiny legs, their ridiculously long bodies, or the fact that they always look like they’re plotting something. Put one in a Christmas sweater and a little winter hat, and you’ve basically created the perfect holiday decoration. Now imagine an entire bed covered in them!

T.J. Maxx’s holiday Dachshund sheets feature the most adorable little wiener dogs bundled up in festive sweaters and winter hats, riding tiny sleds across a soft, snowy-looking background. Some are dressed in red, others in cozy neutral colors, and every single one looks like they’re having the best Christmas of their lives. It’s the kind of bedding that makes you want to cancel your plans, grab a cup of hot cocoa, and spend the entire afternoon watching Christmas movies.

Indigo Home INC, Sled Doggy Sheet Set, $16.99-$29.99,T.J.Maxx

These Cynthia Rowley holiday sheets feature an adorable repeating dachshund pattern that’s festive without being overwhelmingly Christmas-y.

They’re also machine washable, which is particularly convenient if you share your bed with an actual dog who believes freshly washed sheets are an invitation to roll around on them.

The sheets come in four sizes:

• Twin: One flat sheet, one fitted sheet, and one standard pillowcase.
• Full: One flat sheet, one fitted sheet, and two standard pillowcases.
• Queen: One flat sheet, one fitted sheet, and two standard pillowcases.
• King: One flat sheet, one fitted sheet, and two king pillowcases.

Who Needs These Christmas Dachshund Sheets?

Besides anyone who has ever looked at a dachshund and wondered how something so short could have so much personality?

• Dachshund moms and dads: Your dog already takes up 90 percent of the bed despite being approximately six inches tall. Might as well make the bedding match.
• Christmas decorating enthusiasts: Because decorating the tree is nice, but have you considered decorating your mattress with wiener dogs?
• People who love cozy winter bedrooms: These sheets practically demand fuzzy socks, hot chocolate, and a Hallmark movie marathon.
• Anyone shopping for a dog lover: A whole bed full of festive dachshunds is considerably easier to wrap than an actual dachshund.

And while these Christmas dachshund sheets are technically meant for humans, I suspect any real-life wiener dog would approve.

After all, nothing says Christmas quite like a tiny dog in a sweater taking over your entire bed.

At least these little guys won’t steal your pillow.

In a hilarious TikTok, an enthusiastic Golden Retriever takes family bonding to an entirely new level by launching himself onto everyone relaxing on the couch. Apparently, sitting beside his favorite humans simply isn’t close enough. He needs to be directly on top of them.

The comments were almost as funny as the Golden Retriever’s enthusiastic couch invasions. One viewer couldn’t help noticing the humans’ defensive positions, asking, “Why are they all scared and pretzelled up?” which seems like a reasonable reaction when a furry cannonball could land at any moment. Another pet parent found the behavior all too familiar, sharing, “My dog also thinks that when people come over they come over specifically for him.” Clearly, some pups don’t believe in having guests. They believe in having an audience, and every visitor is simply another person waiting to be enthusiastically loved.

Why Do Big Dogs Think They’re Tiny Lapdogs, and What Makes Them So Determined To Sit on Their Favorite Humans?

Despite the popular joke, large dogs don’t necessarily believe they’re small. Their enthusiasm for sitting on people has more to do with affection, comfort, attention, and learned behavior than confusion about their size. Dogs are social animals, and physical closeness can be an important part of how they interact with trusted humans. Research published in Science found that mutual gazing between dogs and humans can increase oxytocin, a hormone associated with social bonding. Although this study focused on eye contact rather than sitting on laps, it helps illustrate how deeply connected dogs can become to their human families.

Related: Golden Retriever Puppy Transforms Into the Cutest Little Dumbo for Halloween

Golden Retrievers are also known for their affectionate, people-oriented personalities, making their enthusiasm for family togetherness particularly unsurprising. Of course, affection doesn’t automatically make every enthusiastic leap safe. Large pups can accidentally knock someone over or hurt a child while trying to cuddle. Dog parents can teach a reliable “off” cue, reward calm behavior, and encourage their dogs to wait for an invitation before climbing onto furniture.

Our couch-loving Golden Retriever probably isn’t under the impression that he’s a tiny lapdog. He simply knows exactly where his favorite people are and has decided that being near them isn’t nearly as wonderful as being on them.

The Bark Santa’s Cookie Catch Dog Flying Disc Toy is $9.99 and looks like a festive plate piled with decorated Christmas cookies. Take a closer look, though, and you’ll discover it’s actually a stuffing-free flying disc made for games of fetch. Even better, your dog can chomp on this cookie platter without anyone having to frantically call the vet.

Bark Santa’s Cookie Catch Dog Flying Disc Toy, $9.99 at Target

The Santa’s Cookie Catch Dog Flying Disc Toy might be one of Bark’s more convincing holiday food disguises.

The round toy is printed to look like a Christmas cookie platter complete with a gingerbread person, frosted star, snowflake cookie, candy cane and a little note reading “For Santa Paws.” A thick red rope runs around the outside, turning what looks like a plate of sweets into something your dog can grab.

What I particularly like, though, is what isn’t inside. Target describes the toy as completely unstuffed, so there’s no fluffy filling waiting to spread across the floor if an enthusiastic dog manages to break through the exterior. Anyone who has walked into a room and wondered when it started snowing indoors knows why that’s appealing.

Bark adds crinkle material, giving dogs another texture and sound to investigate. That combination makes the toy useful beyond simply throwing it across the yard. Your dog can grab the rope edge, shake it, carry it around or settle down to investigate all that crinkling between rounds of fetch.

That’s a different play style from something like Target’s Bark Flapperlantern plush dog toy, and it could be a better match for dogs who get far more excited when a toy starts moving.

Related: Marshalls’ $13 Yule Log Gives Dogs 3 Squeaky Toys to Dig Out Before Christmas

This Is One Christmas Cookie You Can Encourage Your Dog to Steal

The food design gives this toy an easy Christmas-morning role. Instead of wrapping it like a regular present, you could place the disc near the tree as your dog’s own plate of “cookies.” Once everyone starts opening gifts, grab it for a quick game of fetch and give an energetic pup somewhere productive to direct some of that holiday excitement.

It could also be a fun toy to save specifically for December. Dogs obviously don’t understand seasonal decor, but rotating toys can keep the basket from becoming a graveyard of things they’ve seen every day for six months. Put Santa’s Cookie Catch away with the Christmas decorations after the holidays and bring it back next year for another round.

The stuffing-free construction doesn’t mean the toy is indestructible, of course. Bark says the toy has been play-tested, but you’ll still want to supervise your dog, particularly if they’re determined to chew through fabric or rope. Remove damaged pieces rather than letting them become an accidental snack.

For dogs that prefer something to cuddle and chew instead of chase, this Field & Stream turkey plush from Tractor Supply offers another seasonal option with a very different play experience.

But for $9.99, Bark’s cookie disc gets points for doing more than looking festive. It turns the Christmas theme into part of the joke while still giving your dog a toy built around an actual activity. Just don’t put it on the same table as Santa’s real cookies. Christmas Eve is confusing enough already.

In a video posted to TikTok, the mom showed her sweet dog staring up at her and revealed she decided to “get your velcro dog their own velcro dog.” In the next clip, the sweet golden laid with her new friend and puppy, who hid behind her at first. Should You Get a Second Dog?

One of the biggest questions every dog parent faces is whether to welcome a second dog into their home, especially if their pup has lived as an only child.

According to the Spinnaker Veterinary Clinic, “there could be a handful of benefits to having two dogs in your home for both you and your pup, but there are some factors you have to consider before adding a second dog to your family.”

“By nature, dogs are social and thrive in group environments,” they explained. “There are many advantages to adopting a second dog, such as they can keep each other company; when the dogs have each other, it can help ease separation anxiety, and you will have two adorable dogs to love.”

But even with these benefits, it will likely “not be an easy process at the start” for the pup, so there are other key factors to consider.

“Getting a second dog could make your first dog feel displaced and uncertain,” they noted. “While the majority of dogs will get along well with their new sibling, your first dog may not be happy having to share their toys, space, territory, or even their owner’s affection. This makes it important to prepare and do your research before bringing home a second dog.”

It’s important to keep in mind the type of dog you bring home and its age, and to ensure you’re prepared for a long process to introduce them and give them time to get to know each other. It takes patience and plenty of time, but it can result in a loving sibling relationship between the dogs.

I have a serious weakness for anything involving dolphins, especially when there’s a baby dolphin involved. And if you happen to have a little ocean lover in your house, Walmart has a LEGO set that might just make their entire day. It’s got dolphins, colorful coral, and enough underwater cuteness to make you wish you could move into the ocean.

The LEGO Creator 3 in 1 Sea Animals: Beautiful Dolphins set comes with 542 pieces and lets you build three completely different ocean scenes. The main attraction is an adorable mama dolphin and her baby jumping through a wave, but that’s only the beginning. You can take the whole thing apart and turn it into two other sea creatures!

LEGO Creator 3 in 1 Sea Animals: Beautiful Dolphins Building Toy for Girls, Boys, Ages 8, $48.51, Walmart

This LEGO dolphin set is designed for kids ages 8 and up, although I can think of plenty of adults who would happily spend an afternoon putting it together.

Here’s what you can build:

• A dolphin and her baby: Two beautiful blue dolphins jumping through a wave above a colorful coral reef. Their fins and tails move, too!
• A seahorse: A gorgeous blue seahorse with a movable head and tail, surrounded by underwater plants and a little clam.
• A crab: A goofy blue crab with movable claws and eyes, accompanied by sea plants and a jellyfish.

You can only build one scene at a time, but that’s part of the fun. Once you’ve admired your masterpiece, you can take it apart and start a completely different underwater adventure.

Related: Walmart’s 343-Piece ‘Santa’s Sleigh’ Lego Set Makes Reindeer the Star of the Show

The finished dolphin display stands more than 10 inches tall, making it a pretty cute decoration for a bedroom shelf or desk.

Who Needs This?

I’m thinking this LEGO set has quite a few potential fans:

• The future marine biologist: Already knows 47 dolphin facts and would like to tell you all of them.
• The dolphin-obsessed kid: Has dolphin pajamas, dolphin bedding, and possibly answers to the name Flipper.
• The little ocean explorer: Would happily trade their bedroom for an underwater kingdom.
• The grown-up LEGO addict: Claims they’re buying it for the kids but already knows exactly where it’s going on their own shelf.
• The indecisive builder: Can’t choose between dolphins, seahorses, and crabs? Good news!

The set also works with the LEGO Builder app, which provides interactive building instructions and lets kids zoom in and rotate their creations.

And when they’re finished? That sweet little dolphin family is going to look awfully cute sitting on a shelf. Although I have a feeling the baby dolphin might never get taken apart.

Pet furniture has come a long way from the giant beige cushion shoved into the corner of the living room. Still, finding something your pet can curl up in that also looks like you intentionally chose it for your home isn’t always easy. Your dog may not care whether their bed works with the coffee table, but you probably do.

That’s why this rattan pet bed at Wayfair instantly caught my attention. The Helge Baxton Studio Pieta Modern Bohemian Natural Brown Rattan Pet Bed looks more like a miniature piece of boho furniture than something from the pet aisle. It’s currently just $87.99, down from its original $148, and even has a pitched canopy that makes the whole thing look like a tiny house.

Helge Baxton Studio Pieta Rattan Pet Bed, $87.99 at Wayfair

The Pieta Rattan Pet Bed is handcrafted from natural rattan with slim rods forming its open sides and peaked canopy. A padded cushion sits inside the frame, giving your pet somewhere softer to settle than the gorgeous-but-not-exactly-snuggly rattan itself.

That combination is what makes this bed interesting. The open construction keeps it from looking visually heavy, while the natural brown finish could work particularly well in rooms already decorated with woven baskets, wood tones, plants or other warm textures. Put it beside an accent chair or console table, and it looks surprisingly close to regular furniture.

It’s also compact. The entire piece measures about 18.5 inches high, 16.5 inches wide and 16.5 inches deep. The cushion area is smaller, so I’d pay much more attention to those measurements than the retailer’s broader pet-weight classification before ordering. Your dog needs enough room to settle comfortably inside.

The bed weighs just 4.4 pounds and arrives fully assembled, which is a nice bonus if your relationship with furniture assembly usually involves several leftover screws and some creative language.

Wayfair also lists the cover as removable and notes that the product has machine-washable components. That’s especially welcome here because a beautiful pet bed stops feeling quite so luxurious once muddy paws get involved.

Related: Hobby Lobby’s Christmas Gift Box Is Actually a Scratcher for Cats

It Gives Your Pet a Designated Spot Without Hiding the Pet Bed

The biggest selling point may actually be what this bed does for the rest of the room. When a pet bed looks like part of your decor, there’s less temptation to shove it behind the sofa whenever company comes over. The little canopy also creates a clearly defined space that feels more substantial than simply placing another cushion on the floor.

For pets who love their own cozy corner, you can place it where they already choose to relax, rather than expecting them to abandon their favorite spot just because their new bed photographs well. Add a familiar blanket at first, and suddenly that stylish little house smells a lot more like home.

It also gives you an alternative to beds designed primarily around cushioning. If support is your dog’s bigger priority, something like this orthopedic mattress-style dog bed from Tractor Supply may make more sense. For another example of pet furniture designed to look good in the home, check out this Christmas sleigh-themed Wayfair pet bed.

One thing to remember about the Pieta bed: natural rattan can vary in color, grain, pattern and texture, so the piece you receive may not look exactly like the product photo. I’d consider that part of the appeal if you already like natural materials, but it’s worth knowing before buying.

At $87.99, this is certainly more of a decor splurge than a basic cushion. But for a pet who needs their own little corner and a human who has spent far too much time making the living room look good, it might be the rare compromise where nobody has to give up their favorite seat.

One selfless woman named Rose got a 2-for-1 deal after discovering six kittens stuck in a trash can—and their mama cat sneaking around nearby. @Roromuffins was shockingly well-prepared for the mission, and she had no challenges lifting the baby cats to safety, three at a time. She even captured the mother cat in a trap without issue, but everything changed when the feline family came home with Rose.

Wow, Rose had a very busy day rescuing seven cats, and the journey has only begun. Fortunately, the kittens were safe and cooperative throughout the rescue, and the entire family is reunited somewhere safe.

At the same time, it’s heartbreaking to see the mama cat so traumatized after the day’s events. Rose did her best to keep the white and black cat feeling safe and comfortable, but her commenters also had lots of helpful suggestions for her to try.

“Thank you for helping this family,” @dragananenamatic. I would suggest offering a hiding place for mom and babies, like a kitty tent or covered bed. I would not enter her space very often. However, if she does not start feeding the kittens, I would hand-feed them with the formula.”

There’s no question that caring for rescue cats can be challenging, even for those who have done it 100 times before. But what’s next for this adorable family?

Rescue Cats’ Second Chance

Rose has been providing daily updates on the rescue cat family, and while the kittens are growing stronger by the day (they can’t be more than a few weeks old), Mom still isn’t doing well. It could be because she’s a feral cat and afraid of being ‘trapped’ indoors, or it could be because she’s postpartum and has been through a lot lately, but Rose decided it’s time to get to the bottom of things.

“She will be getting checked out [by the vet] today,” she wrote on an Instagram post. “I’m exhausted. I think her 3-day adrenaline rush is gone, and she wants space. Big time. Together we’re gonna be brave and make the right choice for best care. Because I love her.”

Whatever comes next for this brave mama cat, it’s reassuring to know that she’s in the very best hands. Thank you, Rose, for all that you’ve done for them!

The video opens showing a barking Dezzi and Rachel telling his tale. “I asked the staff which dog had no interest, here is what happened. They told me his name is Dezzi and he’s been struggling in the shelter lately. So I went to see him every single day for a few hours,” the overlay text explains. She notes that she started to see him smile again and run up when she visited. Best of all, it worked! A family took note of the new Dezzi. At the end of the clip, we see a sign that says, “Adopted.”

Viewers loved the heartwarming story, like @hotdog, who stated, “This is so amazing. Thank you for saving that boy.” @lelfidixjsidjf took it a step further: “Omg, this made me cry. I have a Dalmatian named Dazzle, and they’re so smart and social I can’t imagine how sad/how hard of a time he would have in a shelter.” Once he had his social outlet, his personality shined through.

Blue-and-white chinoiserie décor has a truly enduring style. From delicate porcelain vases to beautifully patterned jars, these classic designs can bring a touch of old-world elegance to almost any room. And when you find a piece that combines that vintage charm, birds, and everyday function, it’s even better.

Walmart has a gorgeous JUJUYUYOP 63-Inch Floor Lamp that looks like it could have been passed down through generations. With blue-and-white ceramic detailing featuring delicate birds, a warm brass-colored finish, and a classic linen shade, it has all the allure of an antique.

Walmart’s Chinoiserie Floor Lamp Combines Vintage Charm With Modern Function

Walmart offers the floor lamp in blue and brown for $63.99, and shoppers have given it a 4.9-star rating. The lamp features a hand-painted ceramic accent, a brass-colored metal stem, and a beige linen shade. The blue design features delicate bird and floral detailing, making it look like a treasured piece of vintage porcelain.

But this lamp offers more than beautiful detailing. Its adjustable swivel arm rotates up to 355 degrees, allowing you to position the light where you need it. Whether you’re curling up with a book in your favorite chair or adding extra light beside the sofa, you can adjust the shade without moving the entire lamp. It even comes with a bulb, so it’s ready to use right out of the box.

Standing 63 inches tall, the lamp has a weighted base for stability and a linen shade measuring 11 inches at the top and 12 inches at the bottom. Its slender profile makes it especially appealing for smaller living rooms, bedrooms, or reading nooks.

While the design has an antique-inspired look, Walmart notes that it complements everything from farmhouse and vintage spaces to modern and minimalist rooms.

One Walmart reviewer calls it “beautifully made” and says they love the different materials, adding that it’s “something different that stands out among a thousand other identical lamps.”

Another shopper was particularly impressed with its appearance, writing, “This beautiful lamp looks vintage and is very heavy at the base. I love everything about it.”

A third summed up its appeal in just a few words: “Looks antique, but it’s new.”

For anyone who loves traditional blue-and-white décor, this lamp would look lovely beside a neutral upholstered chair, a classic sofa, or even a small writing desk. Pair it with a few favorite books, a ceramic vase, or a framed photograph to create a cozy corner that blends old-world charm with everyday comfort.

And for under $65, it’s a beautiful way to bring a little bird-inspired character into your home without hunting through vintage shops or estate sales.

The senior dog was adopted on October 24, and although he seemed confused by the sudden change, he settled in quickly. His family could tell that it wouldn’t be long until the old dog was playing like a puppy again.

This is the kind of gentle, loving reset that every rescue dog needs. Shawn must feel so much better after his bath, and I can only imagine the relief of falling asleep on a comfy couch instead of hard concrete.

“This baby looks so cozy and at home already just within one day,” commenter @deedeedee19974 agreed. “He knows he’s safe and loved now.” That’s the most rewarding accomplishment as a rescue pet parent, and I applaud these two families for giving the old shelter dog everything he needs to thrive—and then some!

Senior dogs, like Shawn, are commonly overlooked at animal shelters, but in reality, these pups are just as loving, loyal, and entertaining as any other. Dogs are unapologetically themselves by the time they reach this age, and they’ll make the most of every moment whether they’re napping in the sunshine or asking to play for the very first time.

When an Old Dog Plays Like a Puppy

Within a few days of arriving at his forever home, Shawn was feeling peppy and playful. When the kids started to play in the autumn leaves, he couldn’t help but join in!

What a cutie pie! He has the sweetest, most expressive face, and watching him look for the ball left me smiling from ear to ear. It’s so heartwarming to see him playing with the boys as if he’s always been a member of the family, because they have a lot of love and playtime to make up for.

“Look at that frosty face,” wrote @why.is.this.wet. “He’s realizing that these are the good days now.”

You can say that again! Playing ball with family in a backyard of their very own is a shelter dog’s dream come true—one that not every senior shelter dog gets to realize. Fortunately for Shawn, someone came looking for the “oldest dog in the shelter,” and they ended up a perfect match.

If this isn’t the perfect inspiration to consider senior dogs next time you’re at the shelter, I don’t know what is! Older dogs are some of the best pets a person could have—if only more people would give them a chance!

Matching Christmas pajamas have become one of those holiday traditions that can involve practically everyone. Parents match the kids, couples coordinate, and someone inevitably convinces a relative who swore they weren’t participating to put on the plaid pants anyway. With reindeer, trees, trains and tiny geometric details covering the navy fabric, these look ready for a family photo before anyone has even opened a present.

Family Sleep Reindeer Fairisle Dog Pajamas, $10 at Target

The Reindeer Fairisle Dog Pajamas are part of Target’s Wondershop Family Sleep collection, which is what makes them more interesting than simply putting a festive outfit on your dog.

The navy design is covered in rows of white reindeer, Christmas trees and bright red trains, giving it the look of a classic Fair Isle holiday pattern without being quite as predictable as another red-and-green plaid. The four-legged design also makes the pajamas look surprisingly similar to what humans might be wearing.

Target lists the material as 95 percent cotton and 5 percent spandex, so the fabric has a little stretch. They’re also machine washable and tumble dry, which matters when the person wearing the Christmas pajamas is also the person most likely to investigate something messy in the backyard five minutes before pictures.

The pajamas use a pullover design rather than buttons or snaps, and Target offers sizes from XXS through XXL.

This is one purchase where I would definitely reach for the measuring tape before ordering. The XL listing shown, for example, specifies a 16- to 22-inch neck and a 34- to 40-inch chest. Rather than guessing based on your dog’s usual size, compare their measurements with Target’s size guide. Nobody wants Christmas morning to begin with trying to squeeze a Labrador into something that fits like a sausage casing.

The Best Part Might Be the Family Photo

These pajamas make the most sense if matching Christmas outfits are already part of your family’s holiday routine.

Your dog doesn’t need a completely separate photo concept or an elaborate costume. Put everyone in their coordinating sleepwear, bring your pup onto the couch and suddenly they’re part of the Christmas-morning picture rather than wandering through the background wearing a collar.

That also gives the pajamas life beyond Dec. 25. They could work for decorating the tree, opening presents, a Christmas card photo or a cozy movie night at home. If your dog is comfortable wearing clothing, you have several opportunities to use them instead of buying a costume for one quick picture.

Of course, not every pet enjoys dressing up. If your dog seems uncomfortable, there’s no Christmas-card photo worth forcing the issue. You can always let them participate in the festivities without the outfit. Cat parents already know how quickly a cute idea can become a negotiation, although this $10 sushi costume from Target certainly makes a compelling argument for trying.

And if you’d rather express your pet-parent status through your own wardrobe, we’ve also spotted these Hunter slip-on mules at Costco for chilly outings.

For $10, though, these reindeer pajamas offer more than just making your dog look festive. They make it a little easier to include the four-legged member of the family in one of those wonderfully cheesy holiday traditions everyone pretends to complain about but still wants a picture of afterward.

Dr. Computer Chips the Shih-Tzu is going snout-to-snout with Machka the Anatolian Shepherd in the final round. One of these two dogs will become the next dog mayor of NYC in just a few days, but it’s not too late to cast your vote and make your voice heard.

View this post on Instagram

Finally, some ‘paw-litics’ that I actually enjoy! This biannual bracket-style election is only the third of its kind, with previous elections held in 2022 and 2024. Each dog mayor serves a two-year term, and it’s safe to say that the candidates’ campaigns become cuter with every election.

Honorary New York City Dog Mayor: Meet the Candidates

Since the earliest voting rounds opened in July, a group of 16 amazing NYC dogs has been narrowed down to two finalists. Soon, the current dog mayor, a Cattle Dog mix named Simon, will pass the crown to either Machka or Dr. Computer Chips.

Machka the 4-year-old Anatolian Shepherd is a proud Tukish immigrant and advocate of dog rescue. After growing up on the streets of Türkiye and losing a leg after being hit by a car at just 2 months old, she only experienced a few months of normalcy before an earthquake destroyed her home.

The woman who cared for Machka sent her to the United States with a rescue to give her the best chance at life, and shortly after the dog’s arrival, she met the woman who would become her mom.

Now, Machka “stands up for every shelter dog written off.” She and her mom also aim to expand pet-friendly housing and accesible shelters so that no one has to say goodbye to their furry friend due to life circumstances.

Dr. Computer Chips is a 13-year-old Shih-Tzu sweetheart who was born and raised in The Big Apple. She originally grew up in the Bronx, but nine years ago, she was surrendered to an NYC animal shelter with a severe leg infection. After losing the leg to amputation, she met her forever family and has been hopping around New York ever since.

“Let’s get poop off the streets and adopt more elderly and disabled pets!” her family wrote in an Instagram post.

Dr. Computer Chips love to be active in her community, whether she’s participating in the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade or making new friends while walking down the street.

How to Vote For the Next NYC Dog Mayor

Between Machka and Dr. Computer Chips, you truly can’t go wrong. The good news is that whoever comes in second place will become the Deputy Dog Mayor, so if you really think about it—both of these tripod dogs already won. NYC is in great hands!

To make your vote count, visit dogmayornyc.com or join the NYC Dog Mayor Facebook group. You can vote once with each method. Voting closes at 11:59pm on November 2, so don’t wait to make your voice heard.

If you’re the kind of pet parent who already has a stocking monogrammed with your dog’s name (same), this next item is basically mandatory. Every tree deserves a nod to the four-legged family member who sheds on the couch, barks at the doorbell, and still somehow gets away with everything. Nordstrom’s “I Love My Dog” Glass Ornament is exactly the kind of sentimental little detail that makes a holiday tree feel complete.

Made by Old World Christmas, a brand well-known for its old-fashioned, collector-style glass ornaments, this one is crafted from fine, mouth-blown glass and finished by hand with a dusting of glitter. At just 3.5 inches tall, it’s small enough to tuck between bigger ornaments but detailed enough to catch the light from across the room. The warm brown, red, and gold color palette gives it a classic, nostalgic look that pairs easily with almost any tree theme, whether you’re going full traditional or leaning into a more eclectic mix.

What really sells this one is the craftsmanship. You notice the hand-painted details the moment you pull it out of the box, and because it’s genuine mouth-blown glass rather than mass-produced plastic, it has the weight and shine that make it feel like a keepsake rather than a stocking-stuffer throwaway. It’s also a great option if you’re starting (or adding to) a pet-themed ornament collection that grows with your dog year after year. As someone who has their own collection of cherished ornaments, there’s nothing more special than pulling out ornaments that symbolize special occasions and family members.

One thing to keep in mind: this is glass, so it’s delicate. If you’ve got a particularly enthusiastic puppy or a cat who treats the tree as a jungle gym, you’ll probably want to hang this one up high, out of paw’s reach.

A Sentimental Gift Idea, Too

Beyond decorating your own tree, this ornament doubles as an easy gift for the dog lover in your life. Nordstrom offers free shipping and free returns, and shoppers can add a free printed or email gift message, making it a low-effort, high-sentiment pick for a white elephant exchange, a hostess gift, or a stocking stuffer for a fellow dog parent. At under $25, it’s an easy way to say “I know your dog is basically your child” without saying a word.

Whether you’re adding to your own collection or picking one up for a friend, this little glass ornament is proof that sometimes the smallest decorations carry the most meaning.

Some dogs are perfectly content to wait until Christmas morning for their presents. Others would prefer to start digging through the gifts immediately, preferably while everyone else is still asleep. For the second group, hiding a few surprises inside a plush Yule log sounds about right.

Marshalls has a holiday dog toy that turns that instinct into part of the fun. The ZippyPaws Yule Log Holiday Burrow Pet Toy is just $12.99 and comes with three removable squeaky toys tucked inside a plush brown log. Instead of handing your dog one more Christmas plushie, you can give them something they actually have to investigate first.

ZippyPaws Yule Log Holiday Burrow Pet Toy, $12.99 at Marshalls

At first glance, the Yule Log Holiday Burrow Pet Toy looks like an especially adorable piece of Christmas dessert. The plush log is decorated with green holly leaves and red berries, while three tiny woodland creatures wearing Santa hats poke out from openings along the sides and top.

Those little characters are the real prize. You can remove all three from the log, and each one squeaks, giving your dog a reason to sniff around and figure out how to pull them free. Marshalls describes the toy as an interactive puzzle design, and the entire log measures approximately 13 inches high by 4.5 inches wide.

That gives you more ways to use it than simply tossing it across the living room. Load all three toys into the log when your dog is ready to search, leave one partially sticking out to make the game easier or take the squeaky characters out completely for individual play.

You could even rotate them instead of leaving all three available every day. A toy your dog hasn’t seen since last week can suddenly become far more interesting than the pile that’s been sitting beside the couch all month.

It’s a similar idea to Tractor Supply’s MuttNation Christmas sleigh, which also turns finding the smaller toys into part of the activity. The difference is that this one delivers the concept in a compact little Yule log that looks right at home with the rest of the Christmas decorations.

It Can Make Christmas Morning Last a Little Longer

There’s another reason I like a toy like this for the holidays, and that is it doesn’t have to be over five seconds after the wrapping paper comes off. You can tuck the three squeakers back inside and let your dog start the search again. For a dog who loves nosing through blankets, toy baskets or anything else that might be hiding something interesting, that little bit of discovery may be more exciting than simply being handed another plush.

The separate pieces also make this a fun option if you like putting together a stocking for your dog. Instead of buying several tiny toys, you could divide these among the stocking and save the Yule log itself for the bigger reveal. Suddenly one $13 purchase gives you several moments of Christmas-morning fun.

Dogs who would rather chew than solve puzzles aren’t left out, either. Once those squeaky toys are free, they can play with them on their own. And if your pup prefers toys with an unexpected surprise inside, Tractor Supply’s SteelDog holiday owl has another toy hidden beneath its plush exterior.

As with any dog toy, supervise play and put away damaged pieces to keep your dog from swallowing loose material.

At $12.99, this little Yule log isn’t just another cute Christmas toy to toss into the basket. It gives your dog three tiny presents to uncover before Santa even arrives.

One woman felt determined to win over the bonded pair, so she spent time with them every day and fed them special treats. It wasn’t easy, but watching these tiny shelter dogs ask for love for the very first time was one of the most rewarding rescue moments I’ve ever witnessed.

Isn’t it amazing what a difference a little bit of time and TLC can make? It’s understandable why these rescue Chihuahuas were so scared after all they’d been through, but this shelter pro knew that she could convince them they were safe one way or another.

“Breaks my heart seeing them cornered up and their eyes full of fear and doubt,” @Robergon11 commented. I don’t know how shelter employees don’t sob at work every day. I can hardly bear to look at my own dogs when I’m about to leave home!

Just Passing Through is the shelter division of Animal Allies Spay & Neuter Clinic in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Their available pets are listed on an AdoptAPet page and are updated daily—but when I checked the page today, I didn’t see these two listed!

Whoever adopted this bonded pair truly hit the jackpot. Now, these grateful little dogs can’t get enough attention, and they’re going to give their lucky family double the love.

Adopting a Bonded Pair of Dogs

As several commenters mentioned, keeping a bonded pair of dogs together can be essential to their well-being in their forever home. Not all dogs who end up at a shelter together are considered ‘bonded’, but those who are share a deep, emotional bond that could be devastating if broken.

@Kayyla_elise warned that the shelter “better not split them up,” and thousands of other viewers agreed. As far as I know, they were adopted together, which is a win-win for everyone involved.

Adopting a bonded pair of dogs might require a bit more shopping and preparation, but it also means getting twice the laughs, twice the love, and twice the precious memories.

The worst part about having a dog who loves early morning walks is having to get dressed for them. When it’s chilly outside and you’re still half asleep, the last thing you want to do is stand in front of your closet trying to put together an outfit. Thankfully, Walmart has a ridiculously cute matching sweater set for just $34.98 that looks like something you’d happily wear all day.

The Time and Tru Women’s Plus Two-Piece Sweater Set comes with a cozy hoodie and matching pants, and it’s giving expensive loungewear vibes without the expensive price tag. It’s available in sizes XS through 4X and comes in five pretty colors, including Caramel, Caspian Blue, Darkest Brown, Medium Grey Heather, and Oatmeal Heather. Personally, I love the oatmeal color with a pair of fuzzy slippers, although I’d probably swap those for sneakers before heading outside with the dog.

The matching sweater set features a relaxed, baggy fit that looks comfortable without being sloppy. The hoodie has a drawstring hood, long sleeves, and ribbed edges, while the matching pants have an elastic waistband. Both pieces are made from a lightweight, brushed knit with cotton and recycled synthetic fibers.

And shoppers seem pretty thrilled with it! One five-star reviewer called the set “Very soft and comfortable” and said they could have sized down. Another shopper loved theirs so much they purchased three sets, while another praised the quality and ordered three more.

Several reviewers mention the generous sizing, so that’s worth keeping in mind if you prefer a more fitted look.

Who Needs This Cozy Walmart Sweater Set?

Honestly, I can think of quite a few people who could use one of these in their lives.

• The dog mom whose pup thinks 6 a.m. is the perfect time for a neighborhood stroll.
• Anyone who wants to look reasonably put together while secretly wearing something that feels like pajamas.
• The person who works from home and considers changing out of pajamas a major accomplishment.
• Anyone who needs a cute, comfortable outfit for running errands, grabbing coffee, or lounging on the couch with their pets.

The best part? You can wear the pieces separately, too. Pair the hoodie with jeans or throw on the pants with your favorite T-shirt.

For $34.98, this Walmart matching sweater set is a pretty tempting way to make those chilly mornings a little more bearable.

For the perfect example, look no further than the piglets who think they’re geese! Farm owner @marcinhareis098 is used to seeing the animal friends hanging out together every day, but on October 26, she was stunned to find the two baby pigs sound asleep beneath the wings of the goose, who was also sleeping.

This motherly bird took her role as ‘Mother Goose’ to whole new levels! She makes a perfect little heater for the baby pigs, but she’s also the queen of nonchalance. Even though she has two pigs under her wing, she’s fast asleep as if nothing is out of the ordinary.

“I can’t tell who’s happier,” commented @muddman76. Neither can I, and I wouldn’t change it for the world! All three sleepy animals look perfectly content, snuggled up together, though I can’t help but wonder how often this interspecies snuggle sesh occurs.

It’s just as @shielaallen 14 wrote, “A mother’s love never ends no matter what they look like.” Any parent who’s adopted a child or become a step-parent knows how easy it can be to love a baby that didn’t come from your body, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this goose and her piglets had a similar kind of bond.

Why Did the Piglets Snuggle Up to the Goose?

It’s impossible to say with 100% certainty why piglets snuggle up to other animals, but there’s no doubt it’s adorable.

Because piglets are social critters who grow up alongside their siblings, having company comes naturally to them. Snuggling with the goose could have been a way to comfort themselves, or an attempt to stay warmer at night. Whatever works!

This is precisely what @carol.ine1937 hopes for Ravi, an 8-year-old black cat who went from family friend to forgotten in a matter of moments. The cat was recently surrendered for being too affectionate, and now his shelter friends want to help him find a forever home where he’ll be cherished forever.

View this post on Instagram

Ravi is such a sweetheart! The way he melts into Caroline’s arms left me smiling from ear to ear, but my favorite moment was when he got up close and personal with the camera. It only goes to show that with a little love, rescue cats like Ravi can gain a lot of confidence.

“Who surrenders a cat for being too affectionate?” commenter @brienneausten asked. “Put that baby in a wrap and continue on with your day!”

I love the way that she thinks! This sweet black cat is in total bliss when his new friend picks him up, so I bet he’d love to be carried in a baby wrap. Just a few months ago, I wrote about this adorable kitten who loves being worn like a baby, and it would only make sense that other cuddly kitties would enjoy it, too.

When (and How) Will Ravi Be Adopted?

As heartbreaking as it is to see such a loving cat in the Cornwall, Connecticut, animal shelter, it’s also a massive relief to know that he’ll have a line of potential adopters waiting to meet him. But when will he be ready to go home?

As of October 30, this shelter cat is not yet listed on The Little Guild’s adoption portal. This may be because it’s still October, and many rescues choose not to adopt out black cats when Halloween is near.

🐶 SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

The reasoning behind this is that black cats may be used as Halloween ‘props’ or may even be hurt for rituals during this time of year. Fortunately, major pet agencies like the ASPCA have debunked this myth, though many rescues agree that it’s still better to be safe than sorry.

Caroline directed potential adopters to littleguild.com, where they can fill out an adoption application. With any luck, this sweet boy will be adopted before his online profile is even published!

Her brother Teddy has a very different relationship with the open road. In a hilarious video shared by @freyathesiberian, their parents show the two cats during car rides, and the contrast is almost comically dramatic. Freya calmly watches the world pass by while Teddy stares wide-eyed at the camera, mouth open and tongue out. These two may live under the same roof, but they clearly did not agree on the family transportation policy.

Freya and Teddy Couldn’t Feel More Differently About Car Rides

The video introduces Freya first, and frankly, she has passenger princess energy down to an art form. She’s perched by the window, quietly taking in the passing trees without appearing to have a single concern about where the car might be taking her.

Then we meet Teddy. The fluffy brown cat’s eyes are enormous as he pants with his mouth open, creating such a striking mood shift that you almost expect him to ask Freya how she can possibly be this relaxed.

Viewers immediately recognized both sides of the sibling divide. One person joked that Freya is “a passenger princess at heart,” while others said their own cats behave more like Teddy. Another commenter summed up the difference perfectly, writing, “there is always a loud one, and he’s loud for both of them.” Apparently, Freyas and Teddys are riding around in cars everywhere.

For cats who do need to travel, having a comfortable carrier can also make the experience safer. We’ve spotted an affordable Five Below pet carrier, while this rolling pet carrier from Target could be useful when you don’t want to lug everything by hand.

Related: Five Below’s $3 Dachshund Ornament Is the Cutest Little Addition to a Dog Lover’s Christmas Tree

Teddy’s Panting Is Worth Paying Attention To

As funny as the difference between these two looks at first glance, several viewers noticed that Teddy is panting and wondered whether he might be stressed by the ride. That distinction matters because a cat showing signs of distress deserves more than being labeled the dramatic sibling.

Veterinary guidance supports taking travel stress seriously. VCA Animal Hospitals notes that cats can dislike traveling for several reasons, including anxiety, previous negative experiences and motion sickness. Helping a cat develop positive associations with a carrier and introducing car travel gradually can make future trips less intimidating.

There’s also a safety consideration. The Feline Veterinary Medical Association recommends transporting cats in an appropriate carrier and taking steps to minimize distress during the trip. Its current guidance includes acclimating cats to their carriers and giving them an opportunity to hide during transportation.

So while Freya may have us wondering when she’ll start requesting control of the playlist, Teddy reminds us that two cats can experience the exact same situation very differently. Watching and responding to those individual reactions helps each cat feel as comfortable as possible.

And if Freya ever needs a chauffeur, she certainly looks ready for the job opening.

The comments were just as delightful as this fluffy little Paddington impersonator. One viewer was ready to take him home immediately, joking, “Oh, that’s nice, it’s going in my pocket,” while another channeled Paddington’s famously polite personality with, “We’re sorry we’ll never forget our manners ever again.” Someone else simply commented, “Biscuit,” which feels like both the perfect nickname and an appropriate snack for this adorable little gentleman. At this point, all he needs is a marmalade sandwich and a one-way ticket to London.

Why Do Some Dogs Look Like Real-Life Teddy Bears, and What Makes Their Fluffy Faces So Irresistible?

The teddy bear resemblance isn’t entirely accidental. Many dogs, particularly breeds and mixes with rounded faces, soft coats, and expressive eyes, possess features that humans naturally find appealing. Scientists call this phenomenon baby schema, a collection of youthful characteristics, including relatively large eyes, rounded heads, and soft facial proportions, that can trigger affectionate and caregiving responses. Research published in Frontiers in Psychology has explored how baby-like features influence human perceptions of animal cuteness.

Goldendoodles, a cross between Golden Retrievers and Poodles, can combine a fluffy, textured coat with the expressive features that make both parent breeds so endearing. Of course, looking like a stuffed animal doesn’t mean enjoying every costume. Pet parents should prioritize lightweight, comfortable outfits that allow unrestricted movement, breathing, and normal body language. The ASPCA recommends making sure costumes don’t restrict a dog’s movement, sight, or ability to breathe.

This little Paddington impersonator’s storybook charm comes from more than a clever outfit. It’s the combination of a naturally teddy bear-like face and a character-inspired costume that makes this Goldendoodle look as though imagination itself has come to life.
