Barbara Fitzgerald

Barbara Fitzgerald is an AKC Breeder of Merit, Board Member for the North Georgia All Breed Herding Dog Association, and an AKC Herding Trial Secretary.

She has been honored to be selected by the BCSA membership to judge the 2016 Border Collie Society of America Sweepstakes at their National Specialty. Additionally, she was privledged to Co-chair the 2019 BCSA National Specialty and to serve as the Breeder Judge for the 2019 Top Twenty competition.

She has authored a column, Conversations with Champions, for the Border Collie Society of America's magazine, Borderlines. This byline afforded her the opportunity to interview the trainers of the top champions in canine sports, conformation competitions, as well as breeders recognized by the AKC for their lifetime contributions to the breed and the Fancy.

Barbara is also a contributing editor for The Modern Bark, an online magazine dedicated to promoting the health and wellbeing of all canines. She also writes for Healthy Pet Info, in additon to PetHelpful.

Solaras is a small kennel dedicated to training and producing AKC border collies that excel in Conformation, Herding, Obedience, Fast Cat, Dock Diving, Rally and Agility competitions. Solaras Kennels is run by Barbara and Olga Fitzgerald; together they have produced numerous AKC Champions and AKC Grand Champions, with Herding, Agility, Flyball, Trick dog, Rally, Obedience and Dockdiving titles.

In the inagural year of the AKC National Owner Handler Series, Grand CH Solaras-Callista Cavalcade's Companion was the premiere number one border collie in the United States.
