Has Your Puppy Been Dewormed?

If you have not yet done so, the first step is to deworm your dog. Almost all puppies have roundworms since they contract them while still in the womb.

You can deworm puppies easily at home, without a veterinary visit, and this deworming schedule needs to start as soon as 2 to 3 weeks. It needs to happen between every 2 to 3 weeks after that until a puppy is about 12 weeks old.

A 9-week-old puppy should have been dewormed 2 or 3 times already.

Where to Buy Dewormer for Dogs

You can purchase a dewormer at a pet shop or treat roundworms and hookworms with this medication. The deworming medications available over the counter are safe and can keep your puppy alive.

It Is Normal for Dogs to Pass Dead Worms After Treatment

If you have already dewormed your puppy, the dead worms are nothing to worry about. Just repeat the deworming again.

When the puppy is about 3 months old, take a fecal sample in to your veterinarian so they can tell you that she no longer has roundworms.
