Let Your Cat Pick Its Name

So there you have it, a lengthy list of Disney names for cats! If you are really having a tough time deciding, consider allowing your cat choose! This isn’t possible, you say? Nonsense!

Although they won’t understand that they are picking their name, there are ways to involve them in the process. Here are some ideas for the indecisive:

  • Index cards: Write a few different names that you like on a few different index cards and place different treats and food on each one. Whichever one your cat eats off of first is the name they “chose.” If they refuse to eat any of it, well, it’s most likely not the names, but the food!

  • "Here, kitty, kitty...": Try calling the cat by a few of the different names and see if any of them yield a response; coming to you, cuddles, a look, anything. As long as it’s not a scratch in the face, then perhaps the response indicates that you’ve found the right name!

  • “Meow if you like…”: Basically for this one, you tell the kitty to "meow if you like" and say a name. If he or she happens to meow, the name has been chosen! No cheating. (Put down that can of tuna!)

A new cat doesn’t need to be given a name right away; it’s best to be able to discover your cat’s true personality so the name is a good fit.

While you take some time to think, watch this video of a kitten and a hedgehog!

Now if only “bippity boppity boo” worked on cat names...
