Build a Catio for Your Feline Friend
Many of us enjoy spending time in our gardens, and it's true that cats do too. A popular trend now is to build a play area or "catio" for your furry friend to help them get as much enjoyment from the outdoor space as you do.
This is a relatively easy project to do, and you can really let your imagination run wild. If you have a few cats, then it is definitely a good idea to go for a larger structure so there is plenty of room for them to share with each other—we don't want to cause any sibling rivalry!
Take into consideration all the elements of their personality, from playfulness to curiosity and loving somewhere safe and secure to hide when they want some downtime or a cat nap. So check out these ideas to help build your cat an awesome outdoor playground.
You can easily turn a tree in your backyard into a fun playhouse for your pet. If you are handy with carpentry, then this is an ideal project for you. Turn slabs of wood into a swing by drilling holes and adding rope.
We all know how much cats love to climb things and find a perch. So make their wildest dreams come true with this idea. There are plenty of shelves laced in and around the structure for the cat to explore. This is a particularly useful idea if you have a bunch of cats, so there will be plenty of space for all to enjoy.
This is a really simple idea to recreate, and your cat will love it. Add steps to a poll, and he can choose what height he would like to sit at. Most likely, he will choose the one where he can look down at you—cats just love feeling superior to their human or generally just being nosy and watching you prepare their next meal.
We all have an item we aren't using stored in our basement, like an old bookcase, for example. So why not turn it into a cat's playground? You don't have to spend a fortune either; you can use items like oversized tubes to create something a cat can hide in and make a hut on the bottom for him to shelter in.
Floating shelves aren't just great for indoors—they make for a fun play station for your cat. Watch as he leaps from a different shelf to choose his favorite. You can use solid wood, and you can also have it on your porch area, so there is a bit of a roof over it in case it rains. He's sure to love watching the birds and bugs from one of these shelves!

Outdoor Cat Tree
Cats love climbing trees, so make them their very own from wood. They will love jumping from level to level, chasing each other.
This is the end word in cat houses—your cat really will feel like the king of the castle in a structure like this. You can use scrap wood or purchase something similar online. Hang a toy mouse here and there to really encourage him to explore all the different levels of the structure.
Make your cats their very own watching station by attaching frames onto your fence. This is especially useful if you have plenty of areas of interest around such as trees where they can watch all the interesting critters.
Cats love sharpening their claws, so including a scratching pole in their playground area is important. You can have shelves in between or a little hut at the top to make it even more fun for them to explore and play with.
Look how cozy this cat is in his cat tunnel—and it's somewhere he can keep his eyes on you too. You could even use old tires to create a structure like this for him, or if your garden has natural areas like that, then transform them just for him.
Make them their own cat jungle that they can have hours of fun in. You can look for plans online or buy a similar option online. You can also make use of scrap items and transform them for this spectacular idea.
