Additional Tips for Supernatural Naming

Start With Longer Names

If you are having trouble picking out a name now, try a longer name and shorten it over time. For example, you can use 'Growly-Demon Hunter”' initially and eventually shorten it to DH or 'Sir DH.' By selecting a longer name initially, you can slowly grow into a shortened version that feels natural to both you and your new family member.

Try out Puns From Favorite Episodes

Growly is an excellent pun, as is J-squared. The best way to start with a pun is to identify your favorite episode. That may be a silly episode, a cliffhanger, or the start of a season. After watching the show, figure out why you liked it. Did you like a particular character? Did you like a line of dialog? Did you just like how weird it felt? Figure out what you can use and then boil it down to a name. For example, naming a German Shepard a dog decoder right after he was about to tell Dean an important fact, could lead to a great nickname (Howl Jowl or Professor Barks).

Identify Your Favorite Character

This might be a tricky one for Supernatural, but find which character you relate to the most. You can simply take that character’s name (first, last, or both) and call your dog that. That is a great way to pay homage to this stellar TV show.
