Man's Best Friend Deserves the Best Name
Whoever coined the phrase “man’s best friend” in reference to canines couldn’t have been more right!
Adopting a puppy or even an older companion means having a new friend and family member who is always excited to see you! There’s nothing quite like that moment when you walk in the door from work from a stressful day to a dog who is so happy to see you that his entire body is wagging! It melts the stress right away!
Choosing the Perfectly Pickled Pup Name
After adopting your new dog, one of the first things you'll need to do is choose a name to call him or her! It’s definitely not a process that should be taken lightly! It’s a name that you will be saying for many happy years to come, after all!
One of my favorite aspects to choosing a name is making sure it's unique, and naming your pup after your favorite alcoholic beverage is certainly a creative option! They can be funny and remind people of good times!
Here are a few pointers to consider when picking a dog name:
- Personality: Your dog’s personality might be the key to finding the best name for your pooch! Whether he or she is super hyper and excitable, or is laid back and prefers to chill, get a good feel for their unique personality and see what kinds of names come to light.
- General appearance: Outward appearance is an easy way to get ideas for some of the best dog names! Whether it be color, size, shape, or their beautiful fur coat, their appearance can give lots of obvious naming hints!
- Breed: Most of the more popular dog breeds have stereotypes which can be useful in giving your dog a name whether they’re known for being fierce and aggressive, (Jack Daniels comes to mind) or yappy or skittish, in which case, a drink with a low-alcohol content seems a bit more appropriate.
- Social acceptance: When naming your dog, it’s probably a good idea to give it a name that you’ll feel comfortable shouting across the neighborhood. I’ve heard a few questionable dog names in my day, but to each his own, right? Sex on the Beach is not a funny dog name... It's just not.
