200+ Gun Names for Dogs (From Anderson to Uzi)
Dogs Are a Hunter's Best Friend
Coming home to a dog who’s excited to see you will make you forget about any kind of day you might have had! There’s just something charming about a fuzzy, drooling, wide-eyed little ball of joy with a tail that makes all of the bad in the world melt away. One of the best things about having a dog as a part of your family is that they don’t judge you—they love you no matter what!
As for gun owners, the love they have for their pets is probably slightly more than the love they have for their guns. Guns take a lot of work between having the proper permits, keeping them in safe places, keeping them clean and maintained . . . almost like having a dog! There is no shame in having equal pride in both.
If you have a passion for your pistol and you ain’t afraid to show it, there are plenty of gun names for dogs to choose from.

Aiming for the Perfect Name
Hopefully, you've gotten some great name ideas for your pup, and maybe even made a short list of the best contenders! If you need help narrowing down the list, see which name fits these naming criteria!
- Personality: Dog names are often a perfect reflection of the dog’s individual personality, which is usually evident from puppyhood. Play with your pup for a while and determine what kind of personality he or she has: hyper, shy, skittish, excited, loving, and so on.
- Appearance: Appearance is another big and perhaps more obvious factor to consider when naming your dog. For example, is there any distinctive markings on your dog? Does it have two different colored eyes? What color(s) are on the fur? Is your dog big? Muscular? Skinny? Anything about the way your dog looks can really help to hint off some good dog names!
- How it sounds: Sometimes names look a lot better on paper than how they sound aloud. Be sure to say the name out loud to see if it actually sounds like something you’d want to name your dog!
- Yell it out: So, naming a dog isn’t just about what you hear, but what others hear as well. Is it a name that you wouldn’t want to yell across a neighborhood? Political correctness can be super annoying, but you don’t want to be yelling out anything that sounds offensive to others. It should be clean enough to be heard by kids. (Just my two cents.)
- Practice commands: Again, how does the name sound, but when you are issuing commands to the dog? “______, sit!” “Shake, ______!”
Hopefully, with these examples and naming tips, you'll find the perfect gun-inspired name for your new bud!
