Moment Blind Dachshund Gives Rescuer His 'First Kiss' Is Heart-Melting

She knows she's safe with him!

When the blind Dachshund got into her rescuer’s arms, she looked nervous and didn’t know what to do. Within 20 minutes or so, when they got into the car, something magical happened: She kissed him to say thank you.

It was the start of a beautiful friendship! On the way back to the sanctuary, they stopped to get the pup some of her own treats and toys. She is already so spoiled.

This little pooch has genetics-based blindness, meaning that she inherited it. She will be blind for the rest of her life. But luckily now, the rest of her life is going to be so amazing.

It’s not clear whether Lee Asher is going to be adopting the dog, or if she will be looking for a forever home once at the sanctuary. Asher is the founder of The Asher House, a sanctuary for rescued dogs.

“This one has really stolen my heart,” Asher told the camera on TikTok about the little Dachshund. “She’s just a precious, precious angel.”

This dog really is an angel. She may not be able to see, but she can feel emotions just as much as any other dog. She’s really cute and is drawn to Asher a lot.

We can’t wait to see the transformation this little angel undergoes while at the sanctuary. She’s going to be able to meet other dogs, play with toys, and just be a dog. She’ll have time to decompress outside of the shelter before going and meeting other dogs.

Until then, this pooch will be in quarantine since she just came from a busy shelter environment. She will have time to relax, get groomed, get checked out by a vet, and generally just have a moment to calm down. Shelters can be so loud and hectic that the shyer dogs tend to get lost in the noise.

Luckily, that didn’t happen to this girl and she’s well on her way to her happily ever after.
