Beloved Cat Stolen in Broad Daylight From NYC Adoption Event
On Sunday June 4th a cat named Sprout was stolen from Petco Love’s NYC adoption event in Union Square. A rescue group by the name of Fabulous Felines is working with the NYPD to help identify the woman, her accomplice, and the son who broke the zip ties off the kitten's cage and stole him.
Fabulous Felines posted the following story to Instagram.
Adoption events are such wonderful occasions for people to meet homeless dogs and cats and puppies and kittens to give them a forever home and to help control the unwanted pet population. Even people who aren't looking to add a new furry friend to their household can interact with the adoptable animals and make donations. The idea that someone would steal an animal from one of these events is just awful.
The rescue is asking that the public should their local veterinarian the post and that they ask their vet to scan all tabby cats because Sprout is microchipped.
@Advocatcatrescue comments, "Someone has to know who this woman is." @Greekmutts adds, "What a horrible thing to do." @Stacey adds, "I’m praying for Sprout to be found!"
We hope this little cat is found safe and sound and that these criminals are apprehended. It's hard to believe someone who would steal an animal from an adoption event is in anyway a responsible pet owner.
If you have any information on Sprout you can contact The Fabulous Feline on Facebook or fabulousfeline@yahoo.com and can also be reached at 516-521-1800. ( Number for Pat Irizzary, the founder of Fabulous Feline)
