Dog's Daily Meeting With Best Friend Ends In Such a Heartbreaking Way
Dogs are very routine-based animals. Once they have a set schedule or a set walking route, they like to stick to it. But sometimes life happens and things change. It might take your dog by surprise, but they're more resilient than we give them credit for no matter how difficult the situation might be.
TikTok user @lohveecourtney walks her dog the same way every single day for one reason and one reason only - to greet Butch, her pup's doggy best friend. But their walk changed after they learned about very heartbreaking news. Grab a tissue and prepare yourself for this September 12 clip.
Ugh, we can't handle this kind of heartbreak. This woman and her dog Lily went on daily walks every day for the past three years on a specific route, all so Lily could say hello to her "fence friend." The two dogs would run to the fence to say hello like they're old friends. It became a daily routine for both dogs. And judging off their wagging tails, we'd say it was the highlight of their day too.
But the walks changed for this TikToker and Lily when they learned recently Butch crossed over the rainbow bridge. The dog owner left out a memorial to honor Butch, which is such a sweet way to break the horrible news to them. We have a feeling that Lily already knew as she slowly made her way up to the doggy memorial. And here come more tears.
You can't explain to your dog that their dog sibling or friend is gone forever, which is one of the hardest things to grasp. We wish so badly we could help them understand. The only thing we can do is help dogs grieve other dogs. You can do that by not acting overly emotional in front of your pet, reminding yourself to take care of them, maintaining their routine, keeping them occupied, spoiling them, minimizing their alone time, and above all, giving them time to grieve.
