Dog Sits on Command When Mom Says Any 'S' Word in Funny Video
If you have ever trained your dog to "sit" or "stay" than your voice probably has a certain inflection in it that your dog can recognize. It may be a combination of tone and pitch.
Well, one dog owner has discovered her own sweet pup will basically do the command for "sit" using any words that begins with "S." Watch the following posted by TikTok user @Thefunmotmot to see this adorable dog owned by @ChucktheDo0d in action.
I would absolutely try this with my own dog if he actually knew how to sit properly. My dog will sit, then immediately lie down, because sitting is obviously too much work for him. Eyeroll. This is probably user error and he just needs some more command reinforcements!
TikTok users are loving this dog who will sit to any "s" word and @Erica comments, "Salmonella!! Lmfaooooo he’s the cutest !!" @Andrew adds, "That's one smart dog." @Debi replies, "Well he is well trained."
So many users loved his salute because it actually looked like he was trying to salute! @Bobbie replies, "I think salute needs to be its own command." He's really got that clever trick down!
If you are attempting to train your own puppy or dog to sit, and here's where I really need to take my own advice LOL, try and pick a spot where you can minimize distractions. Speak to your dog in a clear, calm voice when you say the command. If you are teaching sit you can gently press down on their bottoms until they move into a sitting position. You can also move a treat in an arc above your dog's head to encourage sitting. Then reward them with verbal praise and a small amount of their favorite treat. Bits of cut up hot dogs work great!
Pretty soon your dog (and um, my dog) will be saluting, I mean sitting, in no time!
