Dog Begging to Be Held Like the Family's Baby Too Is So Sweet

Who could forget about this baby?!

As often as we see videos of dogs and newborns becoming instant besties, it doesn’t always pan out that way. It might take time for your dog to adjust to having a new human in the house. Even if they love the baby with their whole hearts, they can still get jealous. And we totally understand why. Imagine going from getting all the love and attention as a dog to a tiny human stealing the spotlight.

That's what happened with TikTok user @pauline_mariee7’s dog. This fur baby was feeling a little jealous when he saw Dad was spinning the baby around. He looks up at Mom, begging for the same treatment and it's oh-so adorable. Take a look!

Be still our hearts! This is seriously such a precious moment for the whole family. We love that these pet parents, and now human parents, didn't ignore their fur baby. He's clearly just as much part of the family as anyone else. And that's the way it should be!

Many people believe that dogs cannot feel jealousy because they aren't self-aware like humans are. But almost every dog owner we know will disagree. We see our dog sulk in the corner if we even dare give the cat more attention than him. If that's not a dog's jealousy showing, we don't know what is!

If you believe your dog is bitter about the family's new pet or child, there are ways to help your dog become less jealous. Exercise and plenty of it is a great first step. It's excellent for their health and a long walk with your undivided attention might make them less likely to display jealousy. You can also try using counterconditioning techniques that will help your dog associate the new baby or pet with pleasant experiences. Having your vet perform a physical exam to rule out a medical cause isn't a bad idea either and if all else fails, you could always try consulting with a behaviorist.
