Duck Applies for Job at PetSmart and Is ‘Hired’ on the Spot
Pets can be expensive, especially spoiled pets who get new toys and treats on a regular basis. Wouldn't it be great if our pets could get jobs and pull their own weight? Tito is a pet duck, and his owner decided it would be a good idea to try to get Tito a job at PetSmart. Turns out, it was a good idea because they 'hired' him on the spot!
Tito's dad posted a video at the end of August of Tito going into the pet store to inquire about any open job positions. He was all decked out, and even already had a PetSmart vest on with a name tag so that people would know who he was. Watch on to see how the interview goes and if he gets the job or not.
I loved his application! He came to his interview prepared, and it paid off! Tito was hired on the spot and went straight to work. He seemed to know his way around the store and was quite chatty and friendly. That's good customer service!
Commenters all agreed that Tito would be a great PetSmart hire. @mattiepurpledevil13 said what I was thinking, "I would love him as coworker!" @Nick shared, "Oh my god I’d go to PetSmart every day if he was there!" @Travis adorably pointed out, "She didn’t even bother to ask for his quackifications." @Annie had my favorite comment, "No, this is wrong. My Labradoodle applied weeks ago and hasn’t even gotten an interview! We are filing a discrimination pawsuit immediately. (Tito did so great on his first day though!)" @Del tagged PetSmart and said simply, "HIRE HIM."
Cool Runner Duck Facts
Commenter @Jess wondered, "Quick question! I also have runner ducks and would love to know what you have on his feet and for what purpose?" I noticed Tito's cute little shoes, too! The only thing I could think is that maybe the concrete/asphalt was hot, and Tito's dad was trying to keep his feet from burning. He didn't respond, so that's just a guess.
Tito is an Indian runner duck, and if I was going to get pet ducks, this is the breed that I'd want. These ducks are known for their big personalities; I have family that used to have the same kind of ducks, and they were a hoot to watch! I think they look like bowling pins with feathers. In fact, I was told they were called bowling pin ducks. The Happy Chicken Coop shared this fun fact, "When Indian Runner ducks were first imported to the United States they were often referred to as “Penguin Ducks.” That name is fitting, too; they seem to have several nicknames.
My favorite thing about these ducks is that they don't waddle like ducks, instead they run! They may not be able to fly, but they're actually pretty fast and can reach speeds of up to 12 miles per hour when running. They're also known to race each other for fun. I wish that we had more space in our yard so that I could get a few of these funny ducks. It sounds like they're a great source of free entertainment!
