Fisherman Saves Adorable Baby Fawn from Lake and Reunites Him with Mama

What a hero!

One of the best parts of social media is seeing average people perform extraordinary acts of kindness, and that's exactly what happened when this fisherman saw a fawn in distress in a lake, with its concerned mama standing on the bank.

Watch how this guy saves this poor little thing and reunites it with its worried mama!

The precious video was shared by the TikTok account for @Armstrongoutfitters_aot and people are so proud of the way this young guy saved the deer. People weren't the only ones concerned, because one person posted, "My dog was so concerned. She came running tilting her head back and forth to the baby deers “MA MA MA” It really does sound like the fawn is calling for its mama! Another person added, "Love how he talks to Momma and baby that it’s gonna be alright." Yes, it was so cute how he kept saying, "You're okay! You're okay! I'm not going to hurt you!"

Even though this guy was absolutely correct in helping this deer in the lake, sometimes people comes across deer in their yard and want to help them. And that's usually not the right thing to do. Here's what to do if you find an abandoned, or what you think is abandoned, fawn.

What To Do If You Find an Abandoned Fawn

Baby deer

Don't touch the baby!

As tempting as it is to take the baby inside and make it your new pet (And trust me, that's what I would want to do!) you need to keep a safe distance and observe the fawn quietly. Often, what appears to be an abandoned deer is actually a fawn left temporarily by its mother while its mama is out looking for food.

In most cases, the best action is to leave the fawn where it is. The mother is likely nearby and will return when it’s safe, and as much as you want to pet the baby (And I'm right there with you!) you need to avoid touching the fawn or the area around it, as human scent can attract predators or cause the mother to stay away.

If you are positive the fawn is abandoned or that its mom has been hit by a car or killed, contact your local wildlife rehabilitation center or animal control and they can help you.
