Golden Retriever Can't Stop Wagging Her Tail After Rescue From Breeding Facility in Thailand
No matter where you live, you don't have to go far to find a shelter or rescue full of lovable, adoptable pets. It's always great to support animal rescues in your area, especially if you're considering adopting, but some animal advocates feel called to help pets in need far from their hometown.
Niall Harbison is the owner of Happy Doggo, a nonprofit in Thailand that dedicates its efforts to reducing street dog populations and increasing these dogs' quality of life. One of his recent rescues is a grateful Golden Retriever who had been chained up indefinitely as part of a breeding program.
Her joy could not be contained when she and her puppies were rescued! Her tail didn't stop wagging as her rescuers helped to break her out, and Niall's June 6 TikTok video of the rescue is stealing just as many hearts as the dog herself!
What a precious little family! This Golden Retriever is as sweet as can be despite all she's been through, and now her puppies will only know a life of love and care. That's what dog rescue is all about!
To give this caring mama a bigger boost on social media, they named her Taylor Swift shortly before the rescue. Her puppies, Christina Aguilera and Teddy (perhaps an homage to music producer Teddy Swims?), will have no problem finding homes forever when they're old enough, but having adorable puppy names sure doesn't hurt.
It's relieving to see the close attention and care this family of rescue dogs received as soon as they were in their heroes' care. Everyone at the veterinarian's office was happy to cuddle the puppies and give the proud mama a pet, and someone even sat in the trunk of the car with them on the way there! There's no doubt that these people love helping dogs.
How to Help Street Dogs
As much as animal advocates want to find a home for every pet on the planet, there's only so much a single person can do. Animal shelters are often overcrowded and understaffed, but kindhearted people find other ways to help street dogs and stray animals every day.
In many areas of the world, it's safe and acceptable to put out a water dish and even food for stray animals. If you do this, though, be prepared to make a commitment! Even a stray animal will learn to come back to your yard just to be fed, and stopping suddenly could do more harm than good.
Additionally, familiarize yourself with local spay and neuter programs. Many shelters and vet clinics will happily 'fix' a feral cat or street dog, but you'll probably need to do the work of transporting the animal to the vet yourself.
Happy Doggo has a vet clinic they regularly team up with, so these professionals were ready to go as soon as the new family arrived. Both the vet staff and the rescue team deserve major thanks for helping these dogs, and for keeping Taylor's tail wagging non-stop!
