Golden Retriever Who Loves Seeing Cards Shuffled Is a Regular Poker Pro

Get this man to Vegas.

We've heard of card sharks, but what do you call a dog who loves the sweet sound of shuffling cards — a puppy player? We'll let you be the judge, after watching a new viral video which shows a Golden Retriever getting so excited when his owner brought out her card deck.

We'd love to have been there the first time that the Golden's owner discovered he was all about playing cards.

And if you don't believe us, take a look at the video the Golden Retriever mom shared recently. It shows the woman, who posts as @garlicheadrecipes online, merely shuffling the deck of cards in her hands. She did the "bridge shuffle" (if you know, you know), which aside from being a neat party trick, really got her Golden Puffin totally amped.

The pup jumped up and immediately went over to the cards to investigate. Maybe he really wanted a chance to shuffle?

"Just deal him in already," his owner joked in the caption.

People in the comments section were cracking up. "Give that dog some poker chips," demanded one person. "'WHAT IS THIS WIZARDRY!?' cutie pie," someone else joked. "Show him a card shuffler lol he’ll lose his mind," another commenter suggested. "Baby is jealous of those thumbs!" another person chimed in.

Other Weird Things That Dogs Love

The card thing doesn't really make sense. It's not like your dog can eat a deck of cards or anything, after all. But when it comes to dogs, some things are just beyond explanation. Here are some other super strange things that many dogs do.

Something that you've probably noticed before is that dogs will spin around in a circle before lying down for the night. It doesn't really make any sense, right? The reason behind this behavior is instinctual. In the days before domestication, dogs would have to build a nest for themselves to sleep. And oddly they haven't lost that instinct even today.

The zoomies are another strange thing that dogs do. That burst of energy happens when dogs get a little bit overexcited and is a feel-good response.

The next weird thing that dogs do will probably gross you out — they sometimes scoot their bottoms across the floor. It's not a great look for sure, but can actually be a sign that your dog is suffering from discomfort, or worse has a case of intestinal parasites. If your dog is prone to scooting, it might be best to check in with your vet.

These are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to weird dog behavior. But as any pet owner will tell you, it's all a part of the highs-and-lows of owning a pup.
