Golden Retriever Who's a 'Velcro Dog' at Day Care Has People in Love

Nobody can resist Captain!

Dogs are not for people who like their solitude. In fact, once you get a dog you can pretty much say goodbye to most of your alone time. But there is normal dog attention and then there is straight-up clinginess. Like a Golden Retriever at Canine College day care in Michigan, whose caretakers have dubbed a "velcro" dog.

For the unfamiliar, velcro dogs come from any breed. But they all have one thing in common — they don't leave their humans alone one bit.

Captain isn't even the employee's dog, but when at the Canine College he basically became their shadow. A video from the day care shows Captain getting up close and personal to the employee every time they turn around.

It seems that the Golden Retriever really likes to check in....like all the time. "POV: You're the velcro dog at day care," the video's onscreen caption reads.

"I'm honored to have Captain glued to my side," the employee joked in the caption.

Many people in the comments section agreed that having Captain around wasn't so bad. "Omg I need a golden who follows me around with that look of sheer adoration," one person gushed. "Goldens are shadows. I trip over mine constantly but love every minute of it," someone else shared. "Golden Retriever activities, mine can’t be in a different room than me," someone else agreed. "Captain making sure he’s there, if you need him to help," another commenter pointed out.

Golden Retrievers Are Known for Being Clingy

Goldens are very popular dogs. They are loyal companions and are known for their cheerful dispositions. But they aren't for everyone. That's because it's not just Captain who likes to stick right by their human's side. It's the whole breed.

Yep, Goldens are definitely more likely to follow you from room to room. They'll watch TV with you, lay by your feet while you cook dinner, and then follow you into the bathroom even if you really need to get away. They don't really understand privacy. So don't expect to have any if you get a Golden.

These dogs also need a lot of pets and cuddles. And they need to be near their humans to be happy, so if that's not your thing you might want a less needy breed.

For the rest of us who don't mind an affectionate pup, Goldens are pretty much the perfect pet.
