Guy’s Attempt to Prank a Peacock Immediately Goes Viral
If you've ever been up close and personal with an animal, chances are you probably tried to mimic the sounds that the animal makes in hopes that they'll respond. Most of the time they don't and just look at you like you are crazy, but for a TikToker named Darren, his dream came true.
At the beginning of April, Darren was out in his car when he spotted a beautiful peacock on the side of the road. He stopped to say hello, and as the peacock approaches his car, Darren decides to try to chat him up and makes a cawing sound. What happens next is absolutely hilarious! Make sure your sound is on!
Darren's little scream after the peacock starts in had me cracking up! He didn't expect the peacock to respond, and you can hear the surprise in his voice after it did. The video immediately went viral, and now has more than 21 million views, almost 5 million likes, and over 21 thousand comments. @Kota Asmr got over 160 thousand likes for her comment, "You activated it LOL!" @Cat pointed out, "The first scream that is exactly the same as yours hahaha!!" and Darren laughed, "I know! WTH?!" Another commenter wondered, "Did he just mock you? LOL!" and Darren replied, "100%!"
Cool Facts About Peacocks
We might not know if this was a feral peacock or someone's pet peacock, but I don't think any of us expected the peacock to answer Darren! Peacocks are definitely loud birds. They share shrill calls that increase during mating season, and if you've ever heard a peacock calling non-stop, you know how annoying it can be. It's one thing if it's your own pet, but neighbors may not approve or appreciate the noise.
Another Pet Helpful article shared a fun fact about these beautiful birds, "Technically, only the male is called a peacock. The female is a peahen. When referring to the species, one might exclaim, “My, those peafowl over there are really stunning!” Did you know that a bunch of these birds together can be called several different things? Collective nouns include a muster, ostentation, pride or a party of peacocks."
If you think that a peacock may make a cool pet, make sure to check to make sure they are legal in your area. Some states have no laws about them while others allow (or do not allow them). They need plenty of area to roam, and if they're not satisfied at your home, they'll move on to the neighbors, or even further. Males are territorial. These birds will eat just about anything. Another thing to consider is that these are outside animals and cannot be potty trained.
I love seeing these birds, especially when the males show off and open up their gorgeous feathers to attract a lady friend. That being said, I think I'll skip bringing one home as a pet.
