Longest-Resident Shelter Pit Bull Lays at Front of Cage 'Hoping Someone Will Notice Her'
Shuggie is hoping for a brighter future. The sweet 2-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix is currently a resident at Humane Society Broward County in Florida and has been there far too long. Now the shelter's sharing Shuggie's story, so that someone will hopefully take this good girl home.
Shuggie isn't just living at Broward Humane — she's their longest resident.
It's been almost three months since she first arrived and Shuggie hasn't found a forever home yet. If that wasn't bad enough, the Pittie's backstory is so heartbreaking.
"This sweet girl is in need of a loving family," the shelter explained on TikTok. "Sadly, her last 'humans' left her on the side of the road, pushing her out of the car before driving away. Fortunately, a Good Samaritan witnessed the incident and rescued Shuggie, bringing her to our shelter where she is now safe."
That's absolutely infuriating. No dog deserves to be treated that way. Now the Pit Bull is hoping that someone will walk by her kennel and bring her home.
Commenters were hoping that someone would rush over and bring Shuggie home – ASAP. "This angel deserves her forever home!" exclaimed one person. "Please someone adopt this love," another person begged. "I wish I could take every animal out of the shelters and love them...they deserve everything life has to offer," chimed in another commenter. "Praying you will find the best home baby," wrote one person.
Adopt Shuggie at Humane Broward
Shuggie is "one of the sweetest pups at the shelter and loves people," Humane Broward explained in the video's caption. But she does have certain needs as a pet.
Shuggie "isn’t a fan of other dogs" and "will need to be the only animal in the house." That's made finding her a new home slightly tricky. But she does have lots of good qualities too.
"She’s potty trained, walks great on a leash, and is always eager to explore," they explained.
She knows the "come" and "sit" commands and will "shower you with endless kisses and hugs," they added.
But without a loving home, Shuggie has started to get sad. "You can often find her whimpering at the kennel door, hoping to be let out," the shelter wrote. "It’s heartbreaking to see her grow up in a cage, laying at the front of her kennel, waiting for someone to notice her."
Adopting Shuggie is easy. Someone's already paid her adoption fees. All she needs is someone to come and get her. If you, or someone you know wants to adopt Shuggie, you can apply at the Humane Broward website.
