Mom Sets up Over-The-Top Play Areas for Her Huskies Since It’s Too Hot to Be Outside
With summer in full swing, many places across the country are experiencing extreme heat, some in the triple digits. Some dogs do better in the heat than others, but Siberian Huskies can easily overheat due to their thick coats. To keep her dogs entertained and to get out that 'Husky energy' without taking them outside, Marriah, dog mom to Kakoa and Sky, decided to set up indoor play stations for her pooches. To say she went over-the-top would be putting it mildly!
Marriah shared a video on Saturday August 3rd of how she turned the living spaces into her house into basically an amusement park for her dogs. Not only did she get them a huge inflatable ball pit, but she also got them an inflatable soccer field. I think it's safe to say from their reactions that they loved it!
The best part was the Husky howl at the end; it was like a stamp of approval! Marriah said in the caption, "How else are you supposed to get that Husky energy out?" and she makes a good point! Huskies are extremely high-energy dogs that love to exercise and stay busy. This is certainly one way to do it! Commenters left some great responses to the action. @Susie shared, "Thank you, now my dog hates me for being a boring, non-ball pit-having human." @Aailyah Willbanks added, "My golden retriever looked at me and sighed." I cracked up at @RF_Walden who joked, "My dog sent this to me."
Indoor Enrichment Activities When It's Too Hot Outside
If you don't have the funds or space to spoil your pooches like Marriah did, there are so many fun activities to do inside! Check out this snuffle mat, which will stimulate your dog's nose and mind. All you need is a plastic sink mat, strips of fleece fabric, scissors, and some of your dog's favorite treats. Not only will they have to work for the treats, but it will also keep them busy for long periods of time while they work out the puzzle to find them.
Dogs love to sniff and smell things, and it's good for them, too. Why not take your pup on a sniffing adventure? While this is something you'd usually do outdoors you can do it inside too. Most of us have areas of our house that are off limits to our dogs. Take them into those rooms or areas and let them investigate while encouraging them to sniff. Sniffing tires dogs out and it helps them to relax.
If you have a long hallway, play fetch! You sit at one end and throw the ball down to the other end for your dog to go and grab. You can also find automatic ball throwing machines that can keep them busy for long periods of time...and will wear them out!
If your dog likes to chase, why not have them chase bubbles! You can make your own bubbles to blow or buy them at the store. If you want to get really fancy, they even have bubble machines that will do all the work for you. Hiding treats for them to find is also a fun adventure and you can do it indoors or outdoors. And if all else fails, turn on the TV to a Bluey cartoon or other dog friendly show can hold their interests as well. Get creative and try new things; you'll be spending quality time with your dog while having fun, too!
