Zoo Names Penguin Chick After Star Quarterback Ahead of Super Bowl
Everyone is so excited to tune in for Super Bowl LVI this Sunday, including the staff at the Cincinnati Zoo! They're so pumped up for the big match-up, in fact, that they just named a newly-hatched penguin chick "Cup O' Joe Burrow," in honor of the Cincinnati Bengals' star quarterback, Joe Burrow.
In a statement released by the zoo, head bird keeper Cody Sowers said, "We name most of our little blue penguins something related to food, so we added "Cup O' Joe" to the chick’s official name. Cup O’ Joe Burrow has a nice ring to it and fits the theme." The zoo also shared this photo of the sweet little guy on Instagram.
Apparently, this precious penguin is already living up to his special name. Senior bird keeper Aimee Owen noted, "This chick has been a great leader since day one. He’s always communicating his game plan to the entire team, and the plan is always eating and sleeping." (Love it!)
Isn't he just the cutest thing you've ever seen? Such a sweet little ball of pure fluff. What we wouldn't give to see him up close in person. Luckily, for those who are able to visit the Cincinnati Zoo, they will be able to catch a glimpse of Cup O' Joe Burrow when it's warm enough to do so. In the statement, the zoo also teased, "Joe Burrow is invited to meet his namesake any time that’s convenient!"
Huh. That invitation sounds a bit like a challenge! How great would it be if the original Joe Burrow does pay a visit and is officially introduced to his tiny counterpart? If that isn't an Instagram photo opp waiting to happen, we don't know what is.
