Pet Lovers Doing ‘Cat-aoke’ at Cat Convention Is a Whole New Kind of Vibe
Is there any better group to hang with than a bunch of cat lovers? We're an odd bunch, but a great time at a party. Just take a look at the hilarious new video from the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) convention in Ohio that happened recently, where some of cats' biggest fans busted out their singing chops in some appropriately-themed karaoke.
We're gonna need an invite to the next convention after seeing how hard people were going at karaoke — or should we say, "cat-aoke."
Whoever came up with this idea was a genius. It's so simple. All you need to do is replace the lyrics of the karaoke song of your choice with a bunch of "meows." And then watch some magic happen.
Have you ever heard the song "9 to 5," sung by cats? Well this is probably as close as you'll ever get. One of the contestants in the video totally nails our favorite Dolly Parton song. And don't get us started on that cover of the "Star-Spangled Banner." It's absolutely purr-ect. In fact, we might start doing only 'cat-aoke' from now on — it seems like so much fun!
The comments section was completely obsessed. "This is what I do alone in my apartment when I sing to my cat pretending she can understand me," wrote one commenter. "I used to build cat furniture. I've been to so many of these. Never have I experienced this," added another person. "I need to know where I sign up for this. You don’t understand, I’ve been training my entire life for this," joked one person. "I was today years old when I realized what is missing in my life journey is a cat convention. It immediately goes to the top of my bucket list," chimed in one commenter.
The Entire CFA Convention Was Cat-Themed Fun
The man who seems to have hosted 'cat-aoke,' Nathan Kehn, shared another super fun panel that he was on, the "Cat Daddy Panel." Kehn even shared a little BTS of the panel on his page — cheesy '90s sitcom style.
Is there anything better than a man who loves his cat? "The Cat Dads of CFA Expo," he joked in the video's caption.
About the CFA Convention
This year's convention was held in Cleveland, Ohio and featured cats and cat lovers from around the world. It's basically like the Westminster Dog Show, but for cats.
