Pomeranian’s Anticipation of Getting to Grandpa’s House Is Making Everybody Smile
If there's one thing that most dogs enjoy, it's getting to go on a car ride. They don't normally care where they're going, but sometimes they know and get even more excited. For my dog, getting in the car usually means a trip to the park. For this adorable Pomeranian named Tengu, it means getting to go to grandpa's house, and he can't wait!
Tengu's mom posted this video at the beginning of November showing how excited he gets when mom asks if he wants to go to grandpa's house. Make sure your sound is on so you can hear Tengu's excitement. I thought that he was excited to see grandpa, but it turns out there's another reason he was beside himself with anticipation. Watch to the end to find out what's got him so happy!
Tengu was so excited to be able to run like the wind with his Doberman friend...and he was fast, too! People loved the Pomeranian's cute video and left more than 1,300 comments. @Scout the Moon got more than 9,000 likes when they pointed out, "You were clearly not driving fast enough. LOL!" @Leslie made me laugh with her comment, "FAST AS FLUFF BOOOOOOOY! LOL!" and @mrsamore_colpo added, "I love how he is giving it his all chasing the big dog and the big dog is barely jogging!"
All About Pomeranians
Pomeranians, or Poms as they're lovingly referred to, are known for their happy and friendly personalities. They also come with a side of sass and can be feisty and bossy. Just like Tengu, Poms don't know just how small they are, although the American Kennel Club lists them as one of the smallest dog breeds around. On average, they weigh about 3-7 pounds and stand at just 8-14 inches in height.
Don't let their small size fool you; The AKC describes them as, "...alert and smart, making them great watchdogs and pets for families." In other words, they're small but mighty! They love to bark and do it often, another trait of a good watchdog. They're territorial, and will bark when they hear noises, suspect something unusual is happening, or when they spy a threat...either real or all in their heads. Poms will stand their ground when threatened, even by dogs much bigger than they are.
I was so surprised by this little-known fact that Facts.Net shared, "It’s a little hard to believe that Poms are in the same family as large sled dogs! Pomeranians are the smallest dog breed from the Spitz family. They’re in the same group as breeds like Alaskan Malamute, Samoyed, and Norwegian Elkhound. Breeding them down was the reason why they remained lap dog size today." It's crazy to think these pint-sized pooches are related to such big dogs!
