Senior Dog's Excitement Over Daughter Visiting Her Parents House Is Too Sweet
My very first week of high school was memorable for more reasons than normal. Sure, there were a lot of exciting changes happening in my life, but the best part happened after school that first Friday: my parents and I picked up our first family dog form the local shelter! He was my best friend and biggest supporter throughout all of high school, and even now--12 years later--there's no one else I'd rather cuddle up with.
Because of my relationship with my Cockapoo, who still lives with my parents to this day, I can completely relate to 24-year-old Caroline's excitement as she greets her family's senior dog. The Chow Chow mix lives at home with her parents, and he couldn't be happier to see his favorite visitor!
Aww! Because I've been in her shoes, this has me literally sobbing. Getting a zoomies-filled hello from my boy looks a little different now that he's an old dog, but all the love is still there. In fact, I'd say he's only gotten happier for our visits over the years!
@Caroline_rownd shares a similar history with her family's rescue dog, Oscar. He's been a member of the pack since he was a pup, and he's still running to greet his human sister at the age of 13.
Oscar's story is such a beautiful one, and it seems like he has such a close bond with his family--especially his sister! It's no wonder why he can't help but run the moment he sees her! He definitely could've walked if he needed to, but with one of his favorite people visiting home, why wait?
"Enjoy it!" one commenter encouraged. "That feeling hits differently when you get to your parents' house and your childhood dog is no longer there." Pass the tissues, please! I never, ever want to think about that awful day, but it does remind me to be grateful for every excited greeting and every game of fetch I can get.
