Dog Owner's '5 Signs Someone's a Golden Retriever' Are Too Relatable

This breed couldn't get much better.

Golden Retrievers may just be the epitome of a family dog. They're loyal, lovable, and as sweet as can be, but they'll also help keep you active with walks and playtime. And they're patient and gentle with children, too.

It's no wonder why they're one of the most popular dog breeds; they're both sweet and fun! As stereotypical as this classic dog can be, it's worth remembering that they can also be incredibly silly. That's why Allie the Golden Retriever helped her owner make the most relatable TikTok video!

On August 21, the precious account belonging to Ally and her late canine sister, @lizzie.bear, posted a video titled '5 Signs You're a Golden Retriever.' It's just as giggle-worthy as it is relatable!

If you know a Golden Retriever, I'm willing to bet they do most--if not all--of these things. Still, what dog breed doesn't beg? I've never met a dog who doesn't ask for a bite of something that smells yummy, though we have a feeling Goldens are especially successful with begging. Who could resist those faces?

"When it comes to food, I don’t consider it begging….I consider it Retrieving!" joked @odinheartofgold. LMAO! This is the catchphrase of Goldens worldwide. There could be a whole bowl of dog kibble a few feet away, but a true beggar will stick to the mission.

Many dogs are needy, too, but fewer breeds carry toys the way Retrievers do. This is probably due to these dogs' original purpose of retrieving waterfowl. Carrying a plush toy can feel a lot like carrying a bird!

This could explain why Retrievers fall asleep with toys or tennis balls, too. It can be comforting for them to have something in their mouths--and then they fall asleep! As long as a toy isn't small enough to be a choking hazard, there's no harm in letting sleeping dogs lie.

What kinds of behaviors does your dog show that seem representative of their breeds? Perhaps your Border Collie herds your kids, or maybe your Shepherd guards you while you sleep. It's so much fun to see the ways a dog breed's purpose shows up in modern dog behavior!
