Pro Soccer Player Turns Down Job So His Dogs Don't Have to Move and We're So Here for It

We would do anything for our dogs. They might now realize it, but our world revolves around them. We prioritize their safety, comfort, and happiness above our own 100% of the time. This is true for most dog owners, including one professional soccer player.

TikTok user @itsevabarrera is the wife to professional soccer player Diego Barrera and mom to a Golden Retriever and an Australian Shepherd. Eva recently shared a video of their two dogs swimming at Bone Adventure Swim Club, an outdoor pool for pups to play in. The text on the video said Diego recently turned down an offer to play soccer on the east coast because California weather is best for their dogs. That is true love. Check out the video to see adorable footage of the pups playing in the water and to see what else Eva said about their dogs.

Aww, this is so sweet. The amount of love that went into a career sacrifice like that is amazing and it shows that dogs and humans love each other unconditionally. We're so glad these pups will get to stay in a pet friendly city they love.

People in the comments agree that this is what being a dog parent is all about. @mileyjustine said, "I declined a job since I would have to go to the office 2 days a week, and I can’t get the next 2 years back with my dog who has terminal cancer and chronic kidney disease." This is such a beautiful gesture to take for your pup. Another user, @_ashleeswrld, commented, "Yup. I get it. My world revolves around the comfort and happiness of my dog, not much else." We all view dogs as our children, and these are the kinds of things you would sacrifice for a child. Why should our pups be any different?

We just love Diego for giving up this opportunity for the sake of his dogs' comfort and happiness. We hope he has the chance to play soccer on the west coast so he can still have a successful career. Go Diego!
