Stray Senior Staffy Appears in Yard of '20-Something Girls' & Hits the Jackpot

They are the perfect family!

Although you can't choose the family you're born into, you can choose the family you spend your life with. It could include anyone who loves and supports you, including friends, partners, and of course, pets. Our furry friends look up to us like no one else does, and it's only fair that we repay them with the best care possible.

23-year-old @kaylamaysargeant recently went viral on TikTok after sharing the heartwarming story of how she and her housemates adopted a stray neighborhood dog. The girls didn't know his whole story yet, but they didn't hesitate to care for him after he appeared in their yard. Kayla's wholesome September 26 video documented the pup's first day in his new home, and it's easy to see just how perfectly he'll fit in.

OMG--this is a fairy tale ending for this sweet Staffordshire Terrier! Kayla was right when she said that he hit the jackpot with a home full of young women because they are spoiling him rotten. There are so many comfy places for him to sleep, so many girls to give him attention, and even the boyfriends are pitching in to help!

"He probably thinks he died and ended up in a home full of angels," wrote commenter @kayla.boyle1993. "Just pretty girls loving him all the time." Aww! That's such a sweet way to look at it, but you're probably right. This rescue dog's recent past has been challenging, to say the least, but now everything is changing for the better.

In an update video, Kayla shared that this sweet Pit Bull, whom they're calling House Hippo or Old Man, used to be named Fatty. His original owner sadly passed away, and the family members who took him in didn't properly care for him. That's how he ended up as a local stray and why he wandered into the girls' yard.

Caring for an Old Dog

While caring for an old dog can be a bit different than raising a younger dog, their wants and needs are largely the same. You may need to adjust their routines as they age, like when you switch them to senior dog food, but they'll still be eating, sleeping, playing, and going outside, just like any dog.

Whether you adopt a senior dog or have a pup who's been around for a long time, it's never a bad idea to visit the veterinarian for a check up. This way, you can build the best plan of action to keep your senior dog feeling their best.

The sweet House Hippo has only been in his new home for a few days, but he's already getting all the love, rest, and care that he needs. I can tell this is his Happily Ever After!
