People Are Head Over Heels in Love with Tiny Turtle Woman Found on a Walk
There are so many wonderful reasons to go for a walk: you'll get some fresh air, some exercise, and a chance to be in a different environment for a little while. After all, you never know what you might see!
When dog mom @nataliekilbourne took her fur baby on a recent walk, she was cheerfully surprised to come across the tiniest baby turtle she's ever seen. And now over 3 and a half million viewers have fallen in love with the expressive little dude... myself included!
OMG! She really wasn't kidding about the minuscule size of this turtle. The tiny animal is barely larger than her thumb, so we can only imagine how little he weighs. If I'm being honest, I'm just relieved that Natalie saw the baby turtle while she was walking the dog! Things could've turned out very differently for the tiny guy had someone (or something) else found him.
"Now there’s a turtle distribution system?!" asked commenter @20fattycakes22. I guess so! I've certainly come across a few wild turtles near ponds or lakes, but never in the side of the road like this! Natalie ended up naming the little guy Filmore, and now--thanks to an observant commenter--we can name his species too.
@Slenke85 shared, "That’s a red-eared slider. Put him in the nearest water pond or lake so he can survive." Yep, that checks out! Filmore looks like a baby slider turtle, but there's no way of knowing where he came from. Natalie may have found a nearby pond for the little guy or she may have kept the wild turtle as a pet, but I sure hope the baby turtle grows up big and strong!
