Adorable Toy Poodle Goes From Stuffed Animal To Shaved Rat After Unfortunate Grooming

It doesn't even look like the same dog.

Most of us humans have been the victim of a bad haircut. Either you are visiting a new stylist, or you don't quite articulate what you've wanted, or your hair dresser just doesn't listen to you and you end up looking like Dorothy Hamill circa 1976. It happens to be the best of us, and hair does grow, but there's always something absolutely tragic about it.

Also when it happens to your dog. There's something extra painful about dropping your adorable pooch off for a trim and having them return to you looking like a wet rat or newborn chicken. And that's what happened to this Toy Poodle owner.

Oh. em.gee. The video, shared by the TikTok account for @Rkdk3 has people feeling pretty bad for this pup. One person said, "That’s a chicken!" Another added, "Why did I just scream out loud!" LOL! Someone else said, "At least he/she is doing happy zoomies!" That is very true.

I can't help but crack up at the way this dog is running around. It's just too funny. He may look like a different dog but he's still totally cute.Hopefully his next grooming job goes better for this dog owner.

This happened to me once when I was dog sitting my kid's Pomeranian. The mobile groomer was taking an awful long time cutting him and when she finally returned him to us he was cut to his skin. My kid almost murdered me. It was not a good scene. Thankfully, we now have a groomer that does a great job.

If you are taking your pup to their first grooming or to a new groomer, here are some tips that will hopefully help.

How To (Hopefully) Avoid a Bad Grooming Job

Shih Tzu gets shaved at groomer and looks like a totally different dog.

A good groomer is hard to find.

Just like with any other dog service (Veterinary care, boarding, doggy daycare) your first course of action is to ask your friends and family where they take their dog. If they trust their usual groomer to do a good job, it's a great sign for your dog.

So many groomers have social media, so check Instagram and Facebook to see if they have a social media page where you can see their work and read reviews from their clients.

If you're nervous, schedule an appointment for your pup to have a bath, or ask for a consult. Like with any business, ask questions. Ask what they do if your dog is nervous, how they handle nail trims, if anal gland expressing is extra, all those things. If they are just bathing your dog you can get a chance to know them and check out their vibe before you trust them to cut your dog's fur.

Be very specific about what you want. If you want a teddy cut, ask for it. If you don't want your dog to be shaved, tell them. Bring photos of cuts your dog has received previously that you like, or photos from similar cuts on the same breed.

And tip your groomer! They certainly do work hard and a great groomer is hard to find!
