Pilot Whales Have Most Unbelievable Response To Seeing a Dog on a Boat
If you're a lover of whales, this video that @mermaid.kayleigh posted on Monday, September 18th is a must watch! Kayleigh and her husband live in Hawaii and were out on a boat with their dog Mako. A couple of curious pilot whales spotted the pup, and wanted to get a better look...so they did!
Kayleigh said that the whales were spy-hopping, a term that means they were popping out of the water vertically to get a look at what's going on around them. They did it over and over, and Mako wanted to hop in and swim with them. Kayleigh's husband was even able to snap a couple of pictures of the whales, and their faces are too cute!
It looks like the pilot whales are smiling for the camera! @mermaid.kayleigh said that she thinks that the whales were just as curious about the dog as Mako was about them. I liked when she said it makes her think that they're just as curious about us as we are of them. I'm just wondering what they would've done if the couple actually let Mako into the water with them.
There weren't a lot of comments, but there were some good ones. @Darling Tomboy shared, "This is soooo cool!!! I love the two curious interactions from each animal"! @NV_Reno_Risa exclaimed, "I just love the excitement of the dog watching!" And one commenter was concerned, "This is so sweet and beautiful, please consider putting a lifejacket on her next time though it made me very nervous seeing her lean off the boat", to which Kayleigh replied, "Hehe she’s a better swimmer than I am!"
I'll definitely be watching more of Kayleigh's videos. She posts some really cool things and they're so fun to watch!
