Video Explains What To Give a Dog if They Resort to Eating Grass, Dirt, or More
Anytime we walk our dogs, they’ll pretend they’re sniffing the ground. But the second we look away, they sneak something into their mouth. So now, our walks exercise both our legs AND our eyes as we always have to watch what our fur babies are getting into.
A dog tip-sharing account, known as TikTok user @pup_labs, posted what to give your dog if they eat grass, dirt, or something even worse and it's quite eye-opening! We never knew this before. Did you?
Wow, this is once again why we love social media - you learn something new every day. We recently got a cat and as disgusting as it is, our dog can't seem to stay away from the litter box. We're going to try these tips ASAP!
Believe it or not, eating feces is actually very common among dogs and there are a few theories as to why dogs enjoy doing it. It could be simply just because they like it. Weird, we know, but it might smell good to them. Other reasons might be because of enzyme deficiency, stress, boredom, curiosity, and avoiding punishment.
What else should one do if their dog is eating feces besides what was shared in the video? Start with feeding your dog a healthy and balanced diet. You'll want to keep a consistent schedule, supervise their time outside, exercise your dog, and maintain a clean environment. Now, when a dog eats non-food items like dirt, rocks, paper, or mulch, it is known as Pica, and in most cases, it's due to a compulsive behavior problem. Pica can lead to serious health problems, so be sure to seek advice and treatment from your vet.
