Do a lot of research on rabbits. Learn what kind of care they need and how long they live. Are you still going to be able to take care of the rabbit in 12 years? Prove that you are responsible. Keeping your room clean and chores down shows that you will likely keep the rabbit's cage clean. If you can't even keep your own space clean it will show you probably won't keep the rabbit's space clean. Do a cost analysis and work out how much a rabbit costs to care for (cages and supplies get expensive), and figure out how you are going to pay for it. Maybe get a part-time job if you're old enough. You'll also have to plan how to pay for any vet bills and start a vet fund for paying for veterinarian visits. Check out petfinder.com and look for rabbits in your area that at local shelters and rescues. Find out the requirements for adopting from the shelters in your area.
