My husband and I brought in a stray that someone left in the neighborhood when they moved, we call her Mama Kitty. We've had her for about 4 years now. She only started doing this about 2 years ago. When I make a phone call or my husband and I have a conversation, she goes to her water dish and pops or splashes the water with her paw like she is pitching a cat fit making water go everywhere. We are not sure if it is the volume or her being ignored. Why is our cat fussing at us?
It is hard to say, but I would say she is a bit needy for attention. Try playing with her more and getting things for her to occupy herself when you can't. This might help as well: get her something she can use to watch the outside world through a window.
