Sometimes cats don't like stiff bristles; soft hair brushes might work better or even a wide-toothed comb. However, some cats have overly sensitive skin that can rule out grooming altogether except by a vet. Try softer items first to see if she just doesn't like the bristles. I wouldn't show your cat clumps of their hair because they will try to ingest it which leads to bad hairballs that can block their stomach or intestines. Long-haired cats need regular grooming to avoid mats and to keep them from getting hairballs. Be sure to check with your vet if the problems continue.
