There’s nothing better than watching a baby learning to explore the world. One sweet elephant, Lady Bird at the Fort Worth Zoo, got a brand new donut and decided to see what it could do. In the video, she bops around with it, steps in it, and practices her balancing act. Perhaps Lady Bird wants to star in her own one-elephant circus!
The caption explains, “She was recently given a new donut toy from her keepers as enrichment… it looks like she had a fun time!” Keeper Gabby captured the moment for us!
Commenters adored this big girl, who has grown up in the spotlight after being born at the zoo in August. @tonie was the first to point out how much she has changed, “She’s getting so big!!” True, but she has a long way to go before she’s a full-grown elephant. “This baby is a doll,” @Lilly added. Finally, @Frasier_Goldengirls noted an interesting characteristic, “Such a cute baby! And a ginger!” Her little hair tuft really does look red!

0Followers of the account will note she also has brothers and a watering hole to play with. In an earlier video, we got to see Brazos and Travis, other little elephants at the zoo, splashing around. The caption gave more details, “The boys are back in the pool! And this time, they’re swimming on-habitat for all to see!” Reactions were all hearts to this one.
About the Elephants at the Fort Worth Zoo
Lady Bird was born in August, but staffers kept her arrival a secret for about a month before introducing her to the world. The zoo told more of her story, “Lady Bird was standing within six minutes of birth, nursing within two hours, and maneuvering her trunk, well, almost immediately, all indications of a healthy baby elephant.”
So far, little Lady Bird seems to be thriving with her mom and the rest of her herd, including full-sibling Brazos. She also lives with her great-grandmother, Rasha, the matriarch of the herd. We can’t wait to see more from the trio of babies at the Fort Worth Zoo.
