They had no idea where it went.

If you need a little sunshine in your day, this video will do the trick. ABC7 Chicago shared the sweetest clip of a one-year-old playing fetch with his black Labrador Retriever, but just as the toddler was about to throw the ball, it mysteriously ‘disappeared’.

Though the clip is relatively short, it’s 30 seconds of pure cuteness. Watch to see what happens when the boy gets ready to throw while the dog eagerly waits, but both are caught off guard when the slippery ball suddenly vanishes. The toddler accidentally dropped it into the hood of his jacket!

This was seriously the cutest thing we’ve seen all week! And we don’t know who was more confused, the toddler or the dog. Both were looking around like, “What just happened?”! After mom had a laugh about it, she retrieved the ball from the boy’s jacket hood and the game of fetch continued. Just another day with a toddler and a dog!

Georgina Rawlinson, the boy’s mother, originally shared the video on her social media channels, with a caption that said, “I don’t know who was more confused!” She also told Storyful that the one-year-old learned how to throw a ball before he learned to walk.

Commenter Reactions to the Toddler and Dog’s Surprise at the Disappearing Ball

A USA Today article revealed that the toddler and his pup are Bennett, age 1, and Wren, a 2-year-old black Labrador living in Yorkshire, Northern England. Their mom told USA Today via email, “Bennett only just started walking and (this) was his first time on foot for a dog walk.” That’s what we call a walk to remember!

Commenters also got a kick out of the duo. Sandra shared, “That throw had me laughing so hard, I didn’t see it coming! Who was more surprised, the dog or the kid? LOL!” @Max enjoyed it as well, “This is so funny!”

@Average Joe pointed out, “Dogs like.. bro!! Yoos magic, yoos real magic!!!” He definitely could’ve been thinking that!

We love watching adorable videos of toddlers interacting with their pets. It’s clear that these two have a special bond, and you can tell they trust each other completely, and that they’re well on their way to becoming lifelong best friends and partners in mischief.
